Will work on other cars besides VW & Audi
Although this product is sold to be used on a VW or Audi product, the box mine came in had an Audi part number, it is actually a generic fit item. The mounting hardware that comes with this hook is for VW/Audi vehicles. I simply used two sheet metal screws, marked and drilled the holes in a cross bar in my trunk. Just make sure your car has metal cross piece in the drunk and that there are no wires inside before you mount it.Might also add this is a very sturdy well made item. The plastic looks and feels like it will stand up for quite awhile. The spring that retracts the hook is also well made and sturdy. For all you get this hook is a great deal. I put this in my '21 Toyota Corolla.

Should have been OEM
Love these things.. installed them in my subaru WRX...simple install with some self tapping screws (should have come from the factory! Needs some glue to hole the strap lock on (keeps falling off) but glad I bought them..

It Works in a Tesla Model 3, but Beware of Low Quality (Compared to VW/Audi OEM)
It isn't a bad hook, and it will work fine to hold bags of groceries from rolling around the trunk. But, it is not the same quality of the VW/Audi hook that it is clearly a copy of. The price of this knock-off is reduced to make up for the lower quality, so there's that.As other reviews warned, the strap will easily fall out. It looked secure, so I gave it a tug... It ended up in my hand. I super glued the "door" to help prevent it from coming apart again. Gluing it on a workbench is a lot easier than trying to make a repair when it is mounted in the trunk.I mounted two of these in the trunk of a Tesla model 3. There's a little lip/edge with just enough room for these hooks. You'll need to drill two holes (for each hook) in that sheet of aluminum (the shelf under the center brake light). I checked with a borescope, and saw no wires, but be sure to check your car before drilling. I mounted the trunk hooks with 3/16" diameter x 1/2" grip aluminum pop rivets. After using an original VW/Audi hook for over a decade, here's a comparison:Consider toilet paper. If you are used to multi-ply, quilted, name brand TP for $1 a roll. Then you are sold single-ply for $.50 a roll. You might be disappointed. Both rolls do what they have to, but one is nicer. The VW/Audio hook is nicer, but you'll also pay 2X - 3X more for the OEM model.

Hook works for 2011 Audi A5 Premium Plus - BUT NOT THE HARDWARE
Didn't realize that the mounting hardware varies from car to car, and the metal brackets provided with this clip were not for my car: 2011 Audi A5. After doing an exhaustive amount of research online, I was able to track down the parts you need.First, instead of the metal clips, you need a square black expansion nut to fit in the small square hole that is in the truck. Those nuts are part number: 811807577C.Next, you will need the screws since the ones supplied in this kit will not work for the actual nuts you need. The screw part number is: N10633202.I usually only buy from Amazon, but I had to order from ECS Tuning . com and they had the items in stock. You could probably get them from the Audi dealer if you call ahead because most dealers won't carry these specialty parts all the timeMy only advice otherwise is to check your trunk. Somewhere along the lines they changed the mounting strategy. If you have a square hole about a quarter inch by quarter inch, the bracket supplied in this kit WILL NOT WORK!Otherwise, perfect fitting hook which holds your bags

Good except the strap--easy fix.
Good product except the strap. As others have noted it comes off easily, but there is an easy fix. The design is flawed as the strap is held in by pressure and little hooks, but the pressure will be lost over time, if it is not already loose when you get it. See the rectangular flat area in the photo here on amazon? The strap ends are "trapped" under there with some little hooks, but that rectangular part is not glued in so it will work in way loose and the strap ends fall out. Remove the rectangular plate (push with a flat screwdriver from the other side where the strap enters). You will see the ends of the strap. Put glue under the strap ends, between the strap ends, and on top of the strap ends, then press the rectangular plate back on. You can use any glue that works on plastic.

Great quality and value.
Quality is nice a heavy. Feels like it definitely will get job done. I installed to my 2016 Jetta mk6. My Jetta already had pre drilled holes for it so it was very easy to install in a couple of minutes. I think it should fit all VW sedans that have pre drilled spot for on the left side of your trunk. You can also measure it to be sure, it’s 4.5in wide from hole to hole. For this price it’s definitely worth it. Good for backpacks or grocery bags.

Works fine. Matches OEM very closely.
My Audi had two grocery hooks like this in the trunk. I was surprised when my VW only had one hook, but apparently that’s standard. The VW has a place stamped into the trunk ceiling for a second hook, so buying this unit was a no-brainer. Using the included mounting clips and screws, installation took about one minute. This unit is very close to the OEM design and matches close enough to not be obvious. The only noticeable difference is it retracts with direct spring pressure, whereas the OEM unit retracts softly. I think that’s a perfectly acceptable trade-off for the money saved.UPDATE: As many others have stated, the plastic rectangle that secures the fabric loop is merely press-fit and it *will* pop out at some point. Simply gluing it back in place should make for a permanent fix. I recommend using epoxy.
