Toby Lightman is the latest heartthrob on the "Blue-Eyed Soul" scene, an area that is increasingly being invaded by women (see also Joss Stone).Toby goes Joss two better though: she writes all of her own material and can play an incredible guitar. Though this is her first album release, she has the assuredness of a music veteran, and she isn't afraid to show you her chops.The CD is packed with 12 great songs, and, if you are a fan of pared down sounds, you have to check out the enhanced section of the CD. There, in addition to the broadcast video for the first single from the album ("Devils and Angels" directed by the legendary Liz Friedlander) you'll get an interview with Toby, which features her performing both "Devils" and another track from the CD, "Everyday," acoustically! Where a lesser artist would never think to include such a performance, Ms. Lightman shows the world how good she is with just her voice and her guitar... and that's remarkably good.Toby is a talent to watch; since she has the skills to write and perform, a long and successful career is predicted. Why not get in on the ground floor and follow her rise to the top from the very beginning? Highly recommended!

The first time I heard Toby Lightman via "listen to samples" on Amazon, I was very impressed with her style. Some of the instrumental parts are just really smooth and well worked out where they really compliment Toby's wide vocal range. I love her style, the sound of her voice, and the way she comes across on this album. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who like this music style. Reminds me somewhat of Missy Higgins in some parts and maybe even Neko Case in others. Don't miss out on this CD by Toby, she's a hit with me!

This album is very, very good. Toby Lightman is wonderful. I hope she gets the chance to 'break out' because she sure has the chops.Joining in the REAL LOVE debate in this string. Toby does it well, but the song is 'owned' by Mary J. Blige.I recommend this CD.

Toby opened for Rob Thomas in 2006 and a friend turned me on to this cd. It is by far, one of my all time favorites now. She is a wonderful combo of Sheryl Crow, Shania & Alanis M. Songs you can relate to and sing to all the time. Truly an amazing voice - awesome cd!!!! Nice pick Rob Thomas!!

Really like her as a artist and songwriter. A real gem with solid music to listen to. She really puts her all into the music.

This is a great album and with all the junk out there I do not know why she is not more popular, Toby deserves it. Beautiful, powerful voice and great song writing.

Toby Lightman is a most refreshing female vocalist in this debut album! NOT a bad tune on the entire CD. My favorite track is "The River".~Ed

Toby is an amazing artist that I happen to find watching the TV series "Bones" she does alot of the music for that show...... I listen to her everyday she has real life lyrics I can relate to..... She tells life stories in her music best artist out there.....

普段、彼女Toby LightmanのようなCDは全く買わないんです。私の音楽ヒストリーはBoyzⅡMenの「Ⅱ」というアルバムを買った事から始まりました。中２でした。（懐かしいな。）だから彼女のようなロック・ポップスコーナーにあるCDは買わないんです。でもある日ネットで何気なく試聴したら…即ノックアウトでした…。彼女の乾いた声。コブシをぐいぐい回す歌い方。彼女の作るキャッチーな曲群。どれも私の好み　ど真ん中でした。メーカーは売るために「シェリル・クロウとローリン・ヒルの何とか」というキャッチコピーを付けていますが、さてどうでしょう。上記二人が余り好きではない私は、購入を迷いましたよ。。。でも買って良かったぁ～。Tobyさんは幼い時からロックやソウル、ゴスペル等幅広く色んな音楽に触れていたそうですね。それがこのアルバムには溢れていると思います。ポップでありロックでありソウルであり、脅威のデビューCDだと思います。どの曲もお気に入りなんですが、#4Frightenedや#9Everydayで通常の声から伸びやかにファルセットへと移行する瞬間なんて堪りません。彼女はライブで十分実力が出せそうな方ですね。是非行ってみたいなァ。Mary J.姐のReal Loveが大胆なアレンジとパンチのある歌声でカバー収録されてます。本家Mary姐さんVer.を超えたのでは…？と私は思いました。めちゃくちゃソウルフル♪次回アルバムも期待大のアーティストさんです。
