Jiffy peat pellets are Ideal for starting your seeds without any mess. All you have to do is just add water and the pellet will expand once the pellet has expanded you can plant your seed. The pellet has a thin net holding it together. Once your plants are ready to be transplanted all you have to do is transplant directly into the ground or container and you will minimize transplant shock and root damage. This pellet is a 30mm and will expand 1.25 x 1.50 inch.

Not factory original
I received a ziploc baggie hand-filled with about 100 pellets, with a label hastily stuck to the side. This is very obviously someone purchasing a large quantity and repackaging. The mesh wrapping is poor quality, with many holes, and there's no information as to if the peat is fertilized, or plain organic material.Just buy a box at the hardware store or something, Amazon shouldn't allow home-made sellers.

Repackaged product BEWARE
Absolutely do not buy these. You have no idea how old this item is, the lot number or actual manufacturer. The seller OBVIOUSLY repackaged what they bought in bulk and the package shown in the picture is NOT what you are getting. Buyer beware. Go down to your local garden center and get fresh jiffy pots by the manufacturer. Won't buy from this seller again. Honesty goes a long way with me, and this is false advertising IMO.

Great for seedlings and fungus gnats.
These were great. They do have fungus gnat seeds. Please welcome your new flighty bugs. Once i learned, use boiling water to reconstitute. Then no fungus gnats. I have now since moved onto rockwool.

Great for starting seeds; but costs more than it should.
The pellets themselves are fine, but the cost is actually pretty expensive. I paid about $15 for 100 pellets; and for $6 you can buy the whole sprouter package at Walmart , or even at some dollar stores, so that is a whole lot better price than just buying the pellets. When you buy the whole kit, you get the little mini-greenhousse, plus 72 of the pellets, and at less than half the price for a few more pellets.Other than the price being expensive, the pellets work fine, and they are great for starting spring seedlings for transplanting into the garden.last year the birds and squirrels ate most of my seeds; this year I am starting them all inside in the pellets instead.

The sterile nutrient rich peat is an excellent starter soil and I'm looking forward to moving these ...
In an attempt to thwart the adverse weather we have had this Spring, I decided to try these peat pellets to grow different varieties of Italian pepper seeds. I used large rectangular Ziploc containers (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UEG7SW/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1), also purchased on Amazon, as a place to start my pepper seeds adjacent to my aerogarden inside. The results have been nothing short of astounding with nearly 90% growth rate from the batch of seeds planted first. The sterile nutrient rich peat is an excellent starter soil and I'm looking forward to moving these to my raised growing beds shortly. As the roots are all contained within the pellet at this stage there should be little to no shock to the plants.

Too expensive for what I got.
Absolutely way too expensive! I just wanted refills for the kits I had last year... won't buy again. Obvously I bought this thinking it would go far without actually counting the spaces. There's three sandwich bags shown in picture and it gives you the feeling that 100 is a lot. Nope. Go buy some potting mix!

Some torn and only moderate quality
The price was right on these and most worked out okay. But about 5%-10% of them had ripped mesh, which upon expansion, makes them pretty worthless. Some also didn't fully expand. But again, for the price, they were fine and made planting with the kids easier. Oh, I also wouldn't plan to plant anything over sunflower seed sized in these.

Smaller than I thought, but get the job done
These are very small, like the diameter of a quarter, but they still get the job done. They expand to 5 or 6 times their depth, so they still work well for germinating seeds, you just have to plant the seedlings sooner than with the larger pods.

Good price if they stand up, time will tell
It is too early to tell. They should wait a few months before requesting a review.
