I LUV the black polished exterior set. Best mortar/pestle I've ever owned and unique with the 2-toned pestle. Very heavy and even if you don't need or use one much, they make a beautiful accent piece on the counter top and would make a great gift item too! They even package it well. I highly recommend this set

Very solidly made and it works very well. My first use (after seasoning) was to crush up some dried basil leaves and it made quick work of them. After washing it out with water and drying, the lingering smell was not obvious so I am not too worried about cross contamination of smells or flavors. Great product for the price.

I’ve used it way more times than I was expecting. Very heavy and sturdy, works well with grinding and mashing things.I like that it comes with a thin foam pad that you stick on the bottom to minimize impact with your counter. I still recommend using it over a small towel or something to dampen the impact on your counter and the sound that makes.It is heavy so it can be hard to pick up, empty it’s contents, clean etc. So that’s something to consider for those who might have hand/arm pain or weakness.It also is sizeable so need to find a place in my kitchen for yet another gadget but I do think it is worth the space. .Comes with very clear, simple and concise instructions for first time use and overall care (never use soap!). If they hadn’t had these instructions written very visibly and clearly I probably would have done it all wrong. Thankfully it caught my attention and all is well.I like that this is kind of like a wok. It soaks in a bit of whatever you are grinding and over time it can add seasoning back into what you grind in it.I now use it regularly to grind up my spices for chai tea, mash up ginger or garlic for recipes. Crush up peppers. Made ground roasted sesame for a homemade Chinese sesame paste. Very happy with this purchase.

For a while I been using a tiny mortar and pestle for grinding herbs. This was a great upgrade to my kitchen. The size is just right, along with the weight. Cleaning is easy due to its size and shape. Very nice.

I loved this mortar and pestle set! The unpolished finish gives it a beautiful, rustic look. The seasoning process before first use was definitely a bit cumbersome (I got white rice powder on the third time), but once that was done, it worked like a charm. I used it for a mint sauce and it worked perfectly. The olive oil left some darker spots, but that didn’t bother me at all. Great quality and highly recommend!

Good quality. I use mine mostly to ground egg shells for our garden. It turns them into a powder in a minute or two. It was exactly what I was looking for.
