Draper D 78775 Flameless Gas Torch

....I wasn't expecting much, just enough to shrink some small HS sleeves, but it's terrible, really terrible, a lighter is vastly better! To get it hot enough to even start shrinking means it runs out of butane very quick, and it doesn't fill very well either, can't get it to fill up all the way, perhaps about 70%. And the very exposed end of it gets scalding hot (very little 'blow' however, so the heat goes nowhere, just radiates and is wasted) so it's ridiculously dangerous considering it's function, it's not a soldering iron afterall, and almost total lack of effectiveness.It's *really* bad! Instant returns fodder :/

I'm a vehicle technician, i bought one of these for use on heatshrink connectors on vehicle wiring. Unfortunately the first one was faulty. Fair play Amazon swapped it out without issue. The new one works but just doesnt get hot enough to shrink the connectors. It can do the job but it takes an age to work and has to be almost touching the connector for the required hest to be achieved. For home use its fine and will safely seal wiring but in a work environment i cant imagine many bosses being pleased you've spent 20 mins shrinking 4 connectors when it should take 2 mins tops.

I hate giving poor reviews, but honestly this is not as good as it seems, and for the price too. Th item does work, so it gets two stars, instead of one, it only scores two stars because it didnt get hot enough to do the job i wanted ( shrink up some wiring heatshrink wrap.) A few other people have also reported the same so I dont feel too bad, as i am in line with the other reviewers. Save yourself some money and dont buy this. My advice would be to use a 2.99 refillable butane candle lighter from any supermarket, as the heatshrink wrap doesnt catch fire, and it shrinks up nicely under a flame..

Was looking forward to getting this item, however this was an extreme let down!! Getting out of box, looks good and well made. Then it came to filling, I used a standard gas bottle to attempt to fill. This didn't work at all, more gas escaped than entered the torch. As I wanted the product to work so much I purchased two different gas refill bottles, with multiple adapters. There must be approximately 10 adapters on each cap, not of which fitted and just wasted more gas.Even when I got a little gas in, the heat was really that great as I could hold my fingers very close. The item may work when full but impossible to fill without wasting copious amounts of gas.Why didn't they use a standard gas fitting like most lighters these days.......Unfortunately I'm sending it back! If I could give zero rating I would.

Nice size for crafting and quality manufacturing. However it’s really hard to fill with butane gas as the normal nozzle, nor any of the fittings, seem to fit perfectly. I can get enough in to run the torch for 2 minutes use but it takes me 10 minutes to fill that amount of butane. Frustrating and annoying. I’ve had several male family members trying and it just leaves them scratching their heads. If not for this problem it would be a five star rating.
