It's very sturdy and great for splitting wood. The split wood is much better for starting the fire and keeping it going.

Works great, I like that there are holes at the bottom to mount this to a stump for extra stability.

Absolutely great product, very well built and splits seasoned Madrone easy with a 5lb mallet. I took my Dremel with grinding stone to the splitting wedge and ground off the paint and it sharpened up very well and has kept the edge through a decent amount of wood. I suggest picking this one up, the price is good.

Sturdy and well made! We have had this for a while now and I'm so glad I purchased it, making kindling is so easy now! We had a huge ice storm that knocked out the power so keeping the fireplace going was a must! We used a mallet to tap the kindling off the log, it's so fast and easy! You won't regret buying this but you will kick yourself for not buying it sooner!😂

Saw one very similar in a “box store” marked down from $129 to $89. This one is every bit as good as the one in the “box store." None of these units are for splitting logs, but this unit is a fast, safe way to to make kindling, especially if you use soft woods without knots. Note shorter pieces are easier and split faster than long pieces. Overall a really great value!

I was reluctant to buy this because I assumed that despite vids demonstrating people splitting firewood, that this would only work on the easiest, clear grained wood. In fact, this may be true. But I didn't buy it to split oak. I needed something near the stove to split kindling. I've been doing it with a hatchet. Very messy and sometimes difficult. This thing works perfectly to make kindling out of scraps of 2x4's and 2X6's - A hundred times better than my hatchet. Don't think you are going to make firewood out of knotty oak. But if you need to split not too gnarly softwood, or some small pieces of straight grained hardwoods, this thing is the bomb.

Not really an effective or efficient log splitter - did not meet my expectations.
