For Perfecting Fine Motor Skills in Kindergartners!
Fine motor skills or dexterity is the coordination of small muscles that are involved in smaller movements that occur in the wrists, hands, fingers, feet and toes. They involve smaller actions such as picking up objects between the thumb and finger, writing carefully, and even blinking. These motor skills together with gross motor skills work together to provide coordination. These skills will keep developing with age, practice and the increased use of muscles while doing things such as playing an instrument, and writing. In Kindergarten children are taught how to form their letters as one of the first steps in learning to read. Having the right pencil can make all the difference in how easy it is for a child to form these letters. These Lyra Ferby pencils are made from all natural unlaquered wood, are only 4.5" long, has a triangular shape, and has a nice fat grip that is easy for a child to handle. My kindergartner is able to form and write all his letters much more easily and more efficiently than with the standard (skinny) pencil. The lead is very dark even with very little pressure and they last a really long time and is virtually indestructible, (no splitting, can't be snapped and requires less sharpening than the standard pencil.).As an elementary school teacher I highly recommend these pencils for kindergartners. They aid in greatly improving fine motor skills that are just forming in early childhood. Grade A+

Amazing Quality!
Amazing, quality pencils. Perfect for my beginning writer. Love that they encourage a good pencil grip, too! My husband has already been borrowing them from our 5-year-old.

Occupational Therapist Recommended For Young Writers
This pencil is my favorite writing tool as a school occupational therapist who has put it to the test for many years. The best pencil for kids ready to begin to learn to writ letters/numbers all they way up to 2nd graders writing sentences/paragraphs. It is the perfect size for young hands, the triangular shape helps their fingers form a correct tripod grasp, the dark lead leaves a legible mark even with light pressure and it rarely needs sharpening-it's almost unbreakable! Don't be put off by the lack of an eraser.

The perfect pencil for 2-6 yo's
These pencils are perfection for young scribblers and writers. Every detail is just right, from the short (but not too short) length, the chunky triangular shape, the 5mm soft dark 6B core... even the ends are beautifully finished sealed wood which add to their safety around the youngest children. They cost more than cheaply made pencils but they are very high quality and extremely durable. If I had to purchase for an entire classroom or school I'd probably choose a less expensive option (the STEAMFLO beginner pencils seem pretty good and share some design similarities), but when buying for one's own child or grandchild it's Lyra Ferby all the way for me. 5 stars!

Good little pencils!
For the price, I thought there could have been more pencils in the package but the pencils themselves are very nice. They are a good size for my 2 year old to grip who has very tiny hands and fingers; they are big enough for her to grip yet not too big and bulky. The triaanular shape makes them even better for holding and not rolling away!

They’re good but where’s the sharpener?
Bought these pencils for 6yd old my son who struggles with the thin pencils. He likes them and finds them easier to use than the TriconderaNo. 2. Grip is better since they’re wonderfully thick and right size for his small hands. Quality seems to be good too. My only disappointment is that they don’t come a special sharpener. If they’re meant to be specially made why not include a special sharpener as well!!!

great pencil for all ages
I bought these for my 2 year old son to scribble on paper and to use myself for household projects. The large diameter lead is more durable than than normal size wood pencils, holding up well in rough use (including my son pounding on the paper as he 'draws'. Yeah, they are a little expensive, but at least they are good quality. I use the "Faber-Castell Grip Trio Sharpener Arts and Crafts, Multi." sharpener's Jumbo slot to resharpen easily with a few twists.
