Oh my... at 75 and loving to cook I never had an actual Dutch Oven! I just used old big pots my whole life. Then my Hubby gave me a gift certificate to Amazon for my birthday and I thought...this is my time! So I ordered...after much review...what I thought was the perfect Cast Iron Dutch Oven...awaited it's arrival...it was beautiful...and I could barely lift it! Even the lid was too heavy. I did have a wrist broken in 2 places less than 2 years before but it is good...I'm no athlete...but the pot weighed almost 15 pounds alone...which I didn't really think about! I thought...my Hubby would have to get it out for me to cook...help move it...and how the heck much is it going to weigh full of food!!?!! So...boxed up my beautiful present and sent it back tearfully. More careful review...I was not crazy about the color choices on this but it seemed great...and light! I ordered it with trepidation...it came...it is so wonderful. I LOVE it...could not be easier to cook in and clean after. Some folks did not like the way the lid fit and I worried it would slip off...no problem...plenty of "connection" to the pot...handles do get warm but that is something I am used to. I adore this pot...the "red" is more an old fashioned look...more of a burnt brickish color to me...looks terrific. I am so happy to have the perfect pot in my later years...maybe my cooking will improve! The 5 quart size is just right too...holds lots of soup, stew, etc. My Hubby likes to bake bread and is eagerly planning to try that in it too! This is a good decision...hope that helps someone else decide...it is a complicated choice!

I am very pleased with this handsome Dutch oven. The pot's shade of red is perfect. I've used it in my gas oven and on my gas stove top. The pot heats the food evenly. Clean-up is a breeze with its nonstick interior. The lightweight aluminum is a bonus for me as it's not as heavy to lift with the weight of the food I cook in it. I really like the roomy 6.8 quart size. I'm glad I purchased this product so I gave it 5 stars.

I really like this, I own both regular cast iron & ceramic coated cast iron Dutch Oven But they are heavy & even though take a lot of work to keep the coating on the inside, but mostly my wife won’t lift them, because they’re so heavy.These are the opposite, less then 3 pounds, and we’ve been using for about 6 months & the non stick coating is so good. I can make sourdough bread in it & it just falls out.Because of my other DO experience, I washed it really well, then put it in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 30 minutes. There was some smells of either the outer paint or ceramic liner gasing off, I had my vent fan going the whole time. I then put a light coating of 450 degree avacado oil on the inside & wipe it down.I haven’t had any smells or taste in my food at all.One thing I don’t understand is people saying the handles get hot. Hello, this is solid cast Aluminum, it’s supposed to transmit heat extremely well. So if the bottom gets hot, everything is going to get close to the same temperature.

Looks just as displayed. I make pulled pork in the pot on top of the stove on very low, and the pot distributed the heat very well. It is very light, and I am not sure how it will hold up over time, but so easy to use. The top is well fitting and kept all the steam in the pot. I am going to try to bake in the oven with it next.

This Dutch oven is wonderful. I purchased it to primarily bake sour dough bread, and it did a great job. Have since used it to make chili and soup and I love it! The thickness of the pot cooks foods exceptionally well. Even after cooking chili for 40 minutes, it absolutely does not stick, which was not the case with other pots I have. I am a senior and the overall weight is very comfortable and I love the color. Just remember that the side handles get HOT so you can use all those pot holders in your drawer! The knob on the lid stays cool. I would definitely recommend this cast aluminum pot and feel it is a great value.UPDATE: After using this pot a few ore times, I can say that the knob on the lid DOES get HOT! Also, food may cook quicker and/or need slightly less heat than with other pots. Sounds crazy cooking with this pot just feels good!

It took a long to make up my mind. Cast Aluminum is much lighter than Cast Iron. With the lid, it weighs only 57 ounces, under 4 pounds! No problem lifting cast iron anymore! The handles are large enough to grab easily. And though the lid was said to be hot, I didn't find it extra hot. Instructions said to wipe the pot lightly with oil, but it made it smoke, and it had a bit of burnt, so I won't do it again.The red and black enamel was attractive. There were variable Cast Aluminum Pots that had problems with finish. This one didn't have any reports so I hope we chose right.My bread is a little flat. Arizona recipes usually need a extra little water than usual. I didn't take the Monsoon rain and humidity into my figuring. This is the first time, in 20 years, I need to use less water. It still tastes good.

Perfect of making no knead bread. I can't lift even the cover of those Le Creuset jobs. Worked fine for the bread- which is all I will prob use it for.

My wife loves the pot and cooks very well and the food is lovely.

Toll finde ich die Beschichtung an dem Topf. Ich muss ihn nicht so pflegen wie den anderen gusseisernen Topf. Dieser rostet nicht sofort und ist mega pflegeleicht.Ich liebe es damit zu backen, kochen, etc

The media could not be loaded.  I wanted to love this pot but sadly it is not as great as I'd hope it to be. The handles get very hot too touch so need to be super careful. Because it doesn't have a vent for steam the steam stays on lid and when you take it off a pool of hot water cascades everywhere so need to be careful keep children away especially. To stop steam you need to have lid slightly open, ajar to vent steam out. I haven't tried to put it in the oven but just on the stove top and I'm disappointed with that already. The only thing I do like is that it's lightweight.
