These can be a toss up but are mostly reliable. The last yellow one I got was from the Imaging Excellence shop on here and it leaked all over the inside of my printer, in the years I have been buying cartridges it has happened 2 or 3 times like this. Usually almost always from other sellers who are not Amazon though. Always make sure you get it from Amazon if you can. I just got a fresh one from amazon, so far so good.

Can't Beat OEM for toner. No issues with the product.

OEM product, good quality but there is a white "dial counter" that runs according to time and even though it has powder inside it tells you to replace it. Do NOT.There are videos on youtube and tutorials online teaching how to dismount the side of it and reset this white "dial counter". I reset mine 3 times after it finally started to fail on me and then I replaced the toner.It's like the ink reservoir on printers that throw ink out, trying to cheat.

After wasting nearly 3 months with 5 off-brand recycled toner cartridges, I've decided to come back to original Brother cartridges. From a price standpoint, Amazon pretty much has the best price for these (at least this model, which is just slightly more expensive than off-brand recycled models).Back in the days of inkjet printers, I always used cheap refillable cartridges, but with toner, at least for my printer (HL4040CDN), off-brand toners have just been headaches (2 brands the cartridges were already leaking as I took them out of their bag, 1 brand left a mess of black powder everywhere in my printer and had to have it repaired, and 2 other brands the colors were just faded).

I've had my Brother printer for over 2 years and this is the first time I've had to change the toner. I print quite a bit of volume, so I've been overall impressed. I know they sell xl cartridges for about double the price, but for me, there wasn't a need. Works great as described. Great value for the price and much less than retail stores.Only downside for me was that they dont include a return shipping label in the box to send back the old cartridge for recycling, You have to navigate the Brother website to print the free return label.

I have owned brother printer/scanners now for the past eight years and have been generally pleased with the overall quality of the products. However, I have noticed a significant decline in quality for their toner cartridges and would have to caution against a reflex purchase of Brother OEM versus Brother compatible toners. I have now had 3 Brother OEM cartridges fail while they are still at least 50% unused. The failure occurs as leakage of excess toner powder into my printer...this is bad for the printer and the print jobs.When I emailed Brother to complain, I found that they don't have any way to respond or to replace the defective product. Until they are willing to acknowledge the problem and replace at least part of the value of the unused cartridge, I can no longer recommend either the printers or the OEM toner cartridges.I would be curious if anyone else has seen this recurring problem. I would also welcome a response from Brother as to how they can be more responsive to this problem.

Amazon does a great thing with these cartridges...makes them available cheap and fast. My Brother HL-4040CN gives NO notice when these cartridges are getting empty...just a pleasant no more printing for you until you replace all 3 of the color cartridges. Free 2-day shipping with Prime is great when you realize you can't print anything until you get more of these toners.

This actually has been a great replacement toner for our printer, it is replacing a toner cartridge that we bought previously from Staples that never worked well, it always left behind a trail of yellow ink down the right side of the page. This one though seems to be working well.

Don't bother with refilled cartridges. Half the time they leak and while replacement is free, you have to clean the machine over and over. Stick with these new ones.
