Yes it’s fine. The reviewer had it sitting on top of a warm unit. I left mine on all night and it is just above room temperature. I would not call it warm, certainly not hot. Leave it on if you want

Q: What cables does this come with?

It doesn't come with any cables except for power. You need to buy your own RCA or XLR cables.

Q: i assume for the connections that it cannot be use as a preamp to a power amplifier, right?

That’s right. The only output is headphone output. The back had RCA or XLR inputs.
