Here's how to get it started...
Awesomeness in a box! My six year old wanted this game so badly he was going to burst, and I thought for sure this was going to be a piece of junk. However(!!), it does work! There is a learning curve, but here's what you do...After you set it up, pump the yellow button to get the gymnast to start swinging (I hold the blue platform on the left side to keep it from moving). You can make it a little easier for your gymnast by giving him a gentle push, and every time his legs cross the middle blue line press the yellow button. That will get you in the rhythm so he'll start swinging fast enough to swing around the bars.Once he makes his first swing around the bars pick up your yellow button pushing. Give him some flips around the bar and then (I've found) when he's at the 3 o'clock position (some people say other positions, but this works for me), press the red button to release him. If you press the yellow and red button at the same time he will do some amazing flips off the bar, but I haven't been able to make him stick because he's spinning too fast. If you just press the red button he's likely to stick the landing, but NOT every time. Sometimes it's one of out of every ten tries, sometimes it one out of every three tries (usually). My six year old uses this method and he can stick the landings. This game is super addictive! We played it all day the second day we got it (first day was disappointment, because we couldn't figure it out but we persevered). We often play it and let it rest, then walk past the game and start up another round. It's obviously not for everyone, as it's a little tricky to figure out, but when you do it's sooooo fun! We play three tries each, and usually we stick it pretty quickly. We hardly ever get 50 points, mostly 25 and some 100's.Good luck!

If you want the original box the game comes in get the "standard packaging" option, otherwise it comes in a regular brown box
A lot of people are complaining about the game coming in just a regular brown cardboard box, I hate to tell you but that's your fault! Not the games fault and not really Amazons fault either. Read and research what you are buying folks. Either pay more for the standard packaging or pay less and save the planet somehow, regardless, you have to look at what you are getting into... you failed to do so, so maybe you as a shopper should be rated one star. Haha just joking folks. But don't blame non-sentient games for your mistake.Next, when I got the game I was extremely vexed. I put it all together, clipped the gymnast dude(I'm going to call him Kahn from now on) into the bar and put in some batteries and then tried to figure out which way was on and off, pressed the yellow button and nothing happened. Took everything apart, voltage tested the batteries, put everything back together and nothing. Got pissed off, decided to return the game, went through that whole thing, got pissed off at that and decided to try to get the game to work one more time. Tried one more time and it still didn't work. Went and googled it, found a troubleshooting guide that said to detach Kahn from the bar get a paper clip and press down on the metal contacts on each hand a few times, did that, clipped Kahn back to the bar and it started working.I was able to get Kahn to land on my 8th try. It's hard, but that's kind of the point.Should be fun for adults too if you make it competitive and add drinking. I own Loopin' Louie and Coconuts which are children's games that adults enjoy. I think I can add Fantastic Gymnastics to that group.

Falsely advertised
It's a bad sign when there's an insert inside the box warning you that the game has a high difficulty level. To me, this is false advertising. Kids see the commercial where they compare it very clearly to flipping a bottle, which is one of the easiest motions you can make. The game does NOT work in that fashion. The figure needs to get up and over the bars by repeatedly hitting a button, and then in theory another button is supposed to release him. Ninety-five percent of the time the release button doesn't work. When he does release, he never lands on his feet. Not even close. He lands on his side, on his head, or behind the mat on his face. My kids are older and came up with their own rules to accommodate this ridiculousness, but younger kids will be incredibly frustrated because it's impossible to get it to do what the commercial claims it will do. How did this game ever pass muster with the manufacturer?

Awesome
I'm a big kid what can I say I'm 37 years old, I bought this to play at my basement bar. This has got to be one of the coolest games I have ever seen designed, whoever designed this my hat's off to them. It is a little bit frustrating but once you get the hang of it and have patience you will start to learn when to kick. We played this for about 4 hours having a few drinks and just laughing our butts off. This is 100% an adult game as well š

If only it didnāt break just as I canāt return it!!
It took our kids a while to figure this game out. Once they did though, they loved it! Our 9 year old was a total pro. However, it just stopped working! We are so bummed. We switched the batteries twice just to be sure, but alas it is dead. Too bad this didnāt last because it really exercises a different part of your brain!!

Also great for a sensory seeker toy.
Can't have too many of these, our daughter loves them, has a nice collection. She is a sensory seeker, and loves to twirl the gymnastics guy by hand, as well pushes the big red button repetitively. Her favorite thing is the sound, and feel of the gymnastics guy, the spring load sound, and the sound it makes when the toy guy goes back and forth as she flips it back and forth. She also loves the item for the original idea the spin around motion and jump off motion. Not easy to find these except on line now a days.
