One of my all-time favorites made into live action
I have loved this story from the first time I had ever seen the original anime series and OVAs. I discovered this live action remake and had to watch it. This was the only place I could find this to watch, so I bought it here. The acting in this remake is great. The effects are decent. I love getting to re-experience something I love in a new way.

Japanese voice and English subtitles
If you want this in Amazon video format with Japanese voice and English subtitles, then order 'Rurouni Kenshin - Part III: The Legend Ends (Original Japanese Version)'.Again, amazing action scenes in Part III but I feel the last fight scene didn't satisfy me. The actor for Kenshin definitely did a phenomenal job but I also wanted to point out the actor for Sojiro did an excellent job too, despite being a side character. As a fan of the manga and anime though, this ending does do the series justice. Wonderful directing and acting from all those who made this trilogy possible. If they ever decide to grace us with another arc from Rurouni Kenshin, I would gladly buy and watch that too.SPOILER:In Part III, Kenshin's master and Megumi urged Kenshin to have the will to live and this reminded me of Kaoru in Part II, where she told Kenshin he must stay alive during the ship scene at the end. I found this connection really special although it wasn't really pointed out in Part III.

Japanese entertainment at it's best
I've seen bits and pieces of the Trilogy on YouTube I wanted to see the complete movies, I located them on Amazon Prime, However, the digital versions for rent or purchase are English dubbed (see American cast as a clue).I found the Japanese version without the dubbed only versions with English Subtitles. I hate dubbing. So you have to purchase Bluray DVD's which are on Prime two day delivery. That means spending $70 bucks for the Trilogy, It was worth it for me as I still own a bluray DVD although I stream90% of my movies,Anyway, the movie is extremely entertaining, It includes a sense of style that includes humor, special effects action (not overdone), and the most interesting array of characters that you can find,A lifelong samurai fan, I can say the good modern renditions are more exciting and quicker paced,

The Story Ends
This is the start of a 3-film series about a Samurai who, during the Meiji Restoration, acted in secret as an assassin. And then quit when the Meiji defeated the Shogun. I saw the "Original Japanese" version, which is in Japanese with burned-in (not selectable/deselectable) English subtitles.About 10 years later, he reappears as a "rorouni", who (apparently) travels about helping common folk solve problems with his "reverse sword" (it has the sharp edge on the opposite side to what is normal, so, when he fights normally, he stuns but does not cut his opponents). The first film had him going up against a high-level drug dealer, who he defeated. This guy, it turns out, is part of the real villain's band and we get to see him smirking away again. The second film revealed the real villain, who is trying to conquer the country and remove the Meiji from power. Our hero dives off a ship to save his sweetie rather than fight the villain at the end. Well, gotta save /something/ for the third film! The story continues with the recovery of our hero and his training being completed by his master. His sweetie is eventually discovered as well. The villain convinces the government to declare our hero an outlaw. Since he has an ironclad warship that he uses to bombard fishing towns, they are inclined to do this -- very slowly, while they plan their response, which involves artillery. Naturally, our hero responds by going after the villain. At any rate, the plot develops and the fighting continues. And the final conflict with the villain is well worth seeing -- he fights off four attackers at once! And would probably have won, except for one small problem, a most impressive special effect.Recommended to those who like this genre.

One of the best Movie Adaptation of Anime
Must have if you love Rurouni Kenshin Manga and Anime so much. Casting and acting is sport on (Unlike Last Airbender or Alita or Ghost In The Shell). Picture Quality and Sound Quality is very good suitable for home theatre.. If you want full experience better watch with Japanese Dub and English Sub. Enjoy!

O excelente final dessa trilogia, que eu considero a única adaptação IMPECÁVEL de um dos melhores animes e mangás da reta final da era de ouro deles. Recomendo MUITO.

and was glad I did
I bought the three Bluray Discs in one go after watching clips on YouTube, and was glad I did.I forced myself to watch one a week to have something to look forward to.The entire 3 films are just BRILLIANT. The acting, humour, swordplay, story line, I just couldn't get enough.I would easily put these up with Jet Li's HERO, and also Crouching Tiger Sleeping Dragon. The only thing I would really like is an English dubbed version and to see them on the big screen.

Samurai greatness, rare quality in anime live adaptation
The Rurouni Kenshin live action movies are a rarity in being anime adaptations that aren't absolutely terrible or tonally confused. Working both as camp anime homages and actual brilliant samurai movies at the same time, the balance has always been right for all 3 movies. In this third film, I haven't decided quite yet but I think it might actually be my favourite of the trilogy. If you are a fan of the original work or just love a good sword and samurai epic, I cannot recommend this series enough!

I can only recommend it if you like the first two
This is the final Ruroni Kenshin and it's as bloody and filled with action as the previous ones. I can only recommend it if you like the first two :)
