Q: Description is awful. 13 watts? Is that the total output per bulb - makes for an extremely dim light. And how tall is the entire lamp?

I have three 60 watt bulbs that provide more than enough light. You can have either one light, two lights or all three on at the same time to provide a different ambience to the room. All three arcs are at different heights. The highest one is 84 inches. One of the best features is that each arc can be moved individually (on a horizontal basis) to their desired location. I took a chance on this lamp and really love it.

Q: Will this work well for a room with no light fixtures and being the only light source?

Depends how big the room is and what kind of light bulbs you use. It’s pretty bright and lights up a 500 sq foot room pretty easily by itself.

Q: why was the Target lamp so hard to assemble? I really like that one - does this one look as good?

We love this lamp! It fits in the corner of the living room perfectly, makes a good reading light for sitting on the sofa or in the adjacent chair. It was easy enough to assemble, too. I put low watt bulbs in because it is very bright with all three lights lit and provides nice TV or mood lighting when only one light is on. Love it.

Q: How far off the ground is the switch? I'd like to put this lamp behind a sectional and want to be sure I can reach it.

The bottom of the switch is about 31 and a 1/4 from the floor. The switch almost rests on the back of my sectional, I lucked out that it cleared with maybe an 1/8 of an inch to spare. I hope this helps.
