Are these easily removable? Someone said they were removable and someone else said no - which is it?

Yes these pedals are awesome their modular. If the pedals break you can remove them with an allen key and a adjustable wrench. To get you enough to work to remove it when riding through muddy or Sandy conditions. Unlike most pedals that only have one option of using a wrench. I like them because I was able to customize them by taking the front and back reflectors off with the screws and removing the snap in reflectors. This allowed me to put toe clips on the front of the pedals. And I bought screws of the same kind that were just a little bit longer. So I could add a few aluminum plates to make my foot placement from a tow centric pedal. Into a midpoint pedal which is generally a specialty item that is $200 or more starting price. For flats anyways that are what they go for. So yeah if you have an imagination the modularity and screwing the pedals together in a part for repair is very important to me therefore I like these pedals and their design. I think I've owned these pedals for more than 3 years. I've moved them between several bikes I think 10 at the moment is the most I've moved them from the time I bought them easy to come off and easy to put back on. Just gently hand tighten the threads in. Then you can get your Allen key or wrench and screw it in. I would not recommend using your tools to start the threads in your crank arm for your bicycle. You'll end up double threading or cross threading your crank arm threads before the pedals metal fails. As I think the pedal rod is made out of steel and most crank arms are made out of aluminum. That's the only minor thing I would recommend not to do with these pedals.

My stock peddles are 4x4 in and stick out from crank arm 4.25 in. what dimensions for lambda peddles?

Exactly 3.72 inches measured on a dial micrometer from the crank arm flange ( where the pedal spindle meets the outside of the crank arm) to the outer dimension of the pedal body.

The quickest.  Slide foot forward, back, heck even slide away from the bike.
