Will a 30 watt transformer work with this product?

If you are indeed using a 12VDC 30W OUTPUT outdoor transformer, then you need to closely examine the power consumption of each and every low voltage lighting unit you wish to electrify.  The total power consumption for each unit should be provided by manufacture, but it is important to note that some off brand lights may not provide the most accurate specifications to potential buyers so it is wise to always leave yourself some leeway by purchasing a transformer capable of outputting MORE wattage than you actually anticipate needing.

To determine the TOTAL power consumption (remember these are wired in SERIES) of your entire lighting setup, you'll ADD the wattage utilized by EACH LIGHT (remember this will vary by design so consult the manufacturers specifications for each).

For example:  the above mentioned listing for 12" 5CCT hardscape lights shows each unit is rated at 7 Watts and there are 8 lighting units in the kit.

Thus if using all 8 units, you'd have to add (or multiply) the wattage of each, which is 7 Watts X 8 lights for a total of 56W.   This clearly shows that a 30W max output transformer WOULD NOT be capable of powering this setup.

However, with the package of 8 individual 4" units rated at just 1.5W each, this is calculated by taking the wattage of each unit 1.5W and multiplying by 8 to get 12Watts total power consumption.

Were you to use lights with mixed wattages, you would for instance take the power consumption of the 4" 8 unit kit (12W) and the 12" 5CCT 8 unit kit (56W) and add the totals together, so that 12W + 56W = 68W total power consumed by all 16 light fixtures.   In this instance you'd do well to have a 100W transformer to provide adequate, clean power to all the lights you intend to use because this obviously gives you the 68W necessary while also providing you 32W of "growing room" in case you wish to add to or alter your lighting setup down the road.
