5 stars if you live somewhere dry...
First of all, I should say, when these were working, they were brilliant - bright, clear, and pretty much exactly what I'd been looking for.So, a few other words on the product - first impressions, despite the wire the leds were on looking like it would float away in the wind, the unit itself seemed sturdy and well made. So much better than a lot of these flimsy plastic rubbish you can get to use on bike wheels.I fitted them, using the online video as a guide, and initially they worked perfectly. However, I live in the UK. And it's autumn. For those of you reading this from overseas, UK roads in Autumn and Winter (surely the times you most want a product like this, to increase your visibility) are appalling and will kick the seven bells of hell out of bike wheels. They are riddled with pot-holes, frequently dirty, near constantly wet. As such, bike wheels take a bit of a battering - probably far more than even the rider realises. And so, after a week of use, and within 24 hours of its first exposure to rain, the unit started playing up. The switch was unresponsive - the lights would come on when the batteries were installed, but would not switch off or change mode, which meant removing the batteries after every journey. Which is a fiddly, annoying job. Within another week of that, they weren't even working with the batteries installed. Or rather, they would flash on as I installed the batteries, then switch off once the cap was fitted, and refuse to come back on.Such a shame - as I say, when they worked, they were brilliant, but unfortunately they are clearly not as waterproof/rumble proof as one might have hoped. I really wanted these to last, as I've tried so many wheel lights and they've always sucked, but these seemed well made and professionally presented. However, unless you live somewhere with nice smooth roads and dry riding conditions, I'm afraid these are unlikely to last, based on my own experience.

Easy to install and use. Super bright.
Had other spoke lights of all types but these are the best so far. No chance of them dropping out of the spokes either! I had some wrap around ones on my old bike that were a nightmare to install. These were so easy and the simple on/off button large enough and easy to reach. Was going to transfer one of the old set but not going to bother- reordering set for back wheel too ! The only difference to my last ones is that they do not automatically turn off after the bike has been stationary for 5 minutes, which was necessary as the previous ones had rather inaccessible tiny switches. I find these invaluable cycling in the city centre on winter evenings. I feel much safer crossing a junction. I drive too and cyclists are not always visible from the side or when they have car headlights behind them. I chose green to stand out and the motion is eye catching I’ve had several compliments from other cyclists. You can never be too visible!

Buy for visibility, keep for ego boosting
I bought these lights to be more visible on the roads at night, but by far the best part about them is that every time I ride at night people hurl compliments at me.Young children see me coming and say "Wooow!" or "Awesome!"Teenagers shout "SICK!" (Is that really still current slang?! Did it come back around?) or "SO F*<&ING COOL!"It's a real confidence booster.Adults tend to specify that they're referring to the bike (fine, but less amusing) and go with "Nice wheels!" or "Oooh I like you're lights!".Me too, adults, me too.UPDATE:5 months later I still like the lights, but one set of them has become very unreliable. It isn't the batteries, I've changed those, but the lights will turn on fine and then randomly turn off while in use and not turn on again, then they sometimes come back on of their own accord later if I don't turn them off at the switch while they appear to be off.

Brilliant, for a day or two
I'm so pleased the majority of buyers have got on well with these. They are fantastic when they work, but unfortunately, the low reviewers are on this occasion, correct. My 1st set worked for nearly two weeks, very happy, which is why I bought another set.The second set worked until installing. Once on the wheels, they were good for nothing.Third set to replace the second set lasted for one ride, by which time the first set had failed. They seem to fail when you're not looking, or overnight. I got the first set working again by swaping the battery packs [not the batteries themselves], but this was short-lived. Changing batteries to brand new once's at this point, sees no change. Can't wait for upgraded/re-inforced wiring, and then we are in business. Until then, it's another way to contribute more plastic to landfill. Costly!

Wheelchairs look great with these
Although advertised for bikes these look great on a wheelchair used by our 9 year old grandson. Use them on both wheels to create that really carnival effect. He thinks they are 'fabulous' and when he goes out in a dark evening everyone comments how he brightens up the place and from a safety angle cars, bikes and pedestrians can now clearly see where he is. A novelty buy that is a great moral booster as well as a safety device.
