Q: Would this hold your head up on a 11 hour airline flight ?

I've never been on an 11 hr flight but I use mine all the time. It holds up just as well as another collar I paid $35 for! Don't machine wash or dry- hand wash only. I was so happy to find a collar in black- my makeup gets all over my white ones. Good Luck!

Q: can you sleep with this on a long flight?

I use this product in lieu of those expensive neck pillows and it gives much better support for sleeping on an airplane. Unlike the neck pillows, the cervical collar keeps the head from flopping forward and provides support in every direction.

It does get very hot. I'm not sure what everyone else is saying here but it gets extremely hot. After about an hour I felt tiny needle like pain and discovered a heat rash. The first time I ever experienced that

The contoured design is about 2 1/2 " under chin and behind the neck and 3" on the sides under the ears.
