Q: Are there instructions?

I don't think it came with instructions, but I knew how to use it, so didn't think of it. However, I returned it, because it is so small. If you only want to make a small cup of coffee, it would be fine, but I prefer to make a larger mug, so need a larger press. This one is a little misleading saying 3-cups.

Q: can you place this on a 200 degree mug warmer?

It's glass and plastic. It should be ok as far as the science goes. However, 200 degrees may give the coffee a burnt taste.
