RubiesRubie's Child's Colonial Girl Costume, Medium

My daughter wears size 8 but is almost 10 years old. I ordered the size 8-10 and it was much closer to 10 than 8. It runs big but not so big that it can't be worn. Two safety pins at the back waist darts did just the trick (I also hemmed it up 3.5 inches). This costume is a high enough quality that my daughter will likely be able to wear it for the next few years (she'll grow out of it long before the costume gives out). Also, it comes pretty wrinkled and the wrinkles do not wash or dry out but don't panic! A nice hot iron (steam is a must!) solves the problem easily! I highly recommend this costume for dress up, plays, reenactors, etc.!

For the price I paid, I expected this costume to be very flimsy and cheaply made. It was NOT. It was not only very nice fabric and made well but fit my granddaughter perfectly. I got a Medium and she is almost 9 years old and wears an 8, if that helps. She used this for a Beauty and the Beast Production she was in and she played a villager. It was the perfect costume. Do not hesitate to buy this from this company. I couldn't have been more pleased!

This is lovely but I measured my grand daughter and she was just exactly the measurements but when it came, she needed the next size up. Should have ordered large

Just got this outfit and it looks fantastic. The fabric isn't that cheap shinny stuff. I buy costumes for a history group and I needed a colonial girls outfit for a Halloween production at our colonial cemetery. So thrilled and please. Haven't tried it on the young lady yet to see if runs true to size.

This is not the best quality costume for the price. It had strings hanging all over and seams were not sewed very well. The tan looking apron and hot actually are more of a peach color. I gave it 3 stars because I bought it for my daughters colonial days project and it did look cute on her and it served its purpose.

I purchased this for a colonial play my daughter will be in this fall. She's worn it once and we have to be really careful with it so it doesn't come undone at the seems!! I feel like reinforcing it myself. The bonnet does NOT drape like it does in the picture. You see, the circle part for the head is too small, leaving a lot of material for the edges that just droops over the face. The brown dress part is made of stiff, see through polyester. The bonnet, sleeve ends and apron are made of cheap stocking material. It's also not a nice tan or beige color. It's more the color of nude stockings.

The is a great costume! Looks exactly like pictured. Heavier material which will be great for the New England weather. Medium is a tad bit big for my 9 yr old but that is good b/c she can wear normal clothes under it and not be tight. I highly recommend this outfit.

The workmanship isn't going to win any awards but it looks great as a costume and worked perfectly for the colonial program my daughter was in. The size was also accurate, which was good.
