I am always looking for ways to store my files so that I don’t lose them. I’m backing up files to hard drives, CD’s (well, not anymore!), portable hard drives and flash drives. I find it hard to imagine having too many backups. Do you get the idea that I’ve lost data before? We’ll, you’d be right. So when I saw this USB 3.1 64 GB flash drive from Icwamy, I ordered it.The sales site says that it is a USB 3.0 drive (in some places) and a 3.1 drive (in other places). I checked the drive in USBTreeView and found out that the drive is a USB 3.1 Gen 1 drive. That’s one plus in its favor (one of many).I like this drive. It’s the fastest thumb drive I’ve ever seen (33 mb/s read and 133 mb/s reading – wow!) That’s definitely a plus for this drive. I usually don’t need all that fast a thumb drive, but fast is better than slow in most cases!This thumb drive is heavy and solid. I don’t mean that it will sag your pockets if you carry it around, but many thumb drives are made of plastic you know they’ll break if you drop it and then accidentally stand on it. With this metal drive I think you could jump on it and nothing would happen (well, maybe your foot would get sore). It has an interesting method of connecting to your computer. When you open it (and take it out of a nice clear and sturdy plastic case), you won’t see any connector. It’s supposed to have a USB A and a USBC connector, so where is it? On the bottom of the drive you’ll find a slider. Push it one way and the USB A connector will appear. Push it the other way and the USB C connector will appear.When you plug the drive in and begin copying files to the drive you’ll see that the Icwamy name on the side of the drive will begin to flicker with light. It’s a neat indicator that the drive is working. The only downside of this drive that I can see is that it is wider than the average thumb drive. I have two USB A connectors side by side on my laptop. One of them I use to plug in my mouse cord. Normally I can plug another USB A device into the second port, but I can’t with this Icwamy drive. It’s too wide and won’t fit. That really makes no difference to me because I have a USB port extender to another USB A port and can hook this drive up there, but I thought that you would want to know.

So far I’m very impressed by this drive. The build quality is high, and it came in a nice plastic case with cut-to-fit foam padding. I’ve never seen a flash drive so well packaged before.It’s totally plug and play, and I had no issues with my laptop or phone recognizing it. Like many drives these days, it comes formatted in exFAT. If you’re using it with computers, you won’t have any issues. But if you’re planning on using this with older devices like DVD players, you’ll have to reformat it to FAT or NTFS or else the device won’t recognize it. There are lots of free programs available (I use AEOMI) and it only takes a few seconds to do. Just check the specs of the device you’re planning on using it with so you know in advance what you’ll need.This drive has a sliding connector with a male USB A on one end and male USB C on the other. It’s a great design that makes it useful for a wide variety of tasks. I was worried that it would be cheaply made like my old Verbatim drive, but this slider feels very robust and clicks solidly into place when you move it. Very impressive, and it was nice to be able to transfer photos from my phone to my laptop without having to mess with cables.Transfer rates were generally good when connected to the USB 3.0 port on my laptop, ranging from 34-95 MB/s. I noticed the drive seemed to latch data in 300-400 MB chunks, then pause to copy it before taking another chunk. I’ve noticed the same thing with some other budget flash drives I got on Amazon. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the drives or an issue with my computer settings. Regardless, when transferring large single files, the speeds stayed mainly in the 85-95 MB/s range, and that perfectly satisfied me.This might just be the best-performing flash drive I’ve ever used. I think $19.99 is an amazingly good deal for a device of this quality and, based on the performance I’ve seen so far, I would definitely recommend it! Speeds are more or less what is advertised. Both USB A and C connections work at full speed. The plastic feels a bit cheap, but has held up just fine so far.

I like the utility of this product. I am a little bit of a photo and video hoarder. I record a lot of memories and with this tool I can export them all to one place so I can free up space for more memories.The drive seems fairly rugged and good quality. The speed was pretty good as well. My one big critique is that it would be nice if they included a how to guide in the box.I am not super techy so I had to hunt online for a guide on how to transfer files to the device from my android phone (tip: settings>backup>backup to usb) would be nice if it was in the instructions.Over the product seems to work efficiently and seems well made. But it could be a little more user friendly in its marketing.4/5

This is a very well made flash/thumb drive, a 64 GB drive with a USB 3.0 64 GB USB-C to USB-A flash drive with a nice gift box. I’m trying to fix my crashed laptop, and the tech support person at Microsoft said I needed something like this to get a copy of Windows 10 installation on a flash drive or thumb drive, then install it on my laptop, which currently has the blue screen of death and won’t accept my passwords even though I know they’re correct. So, I have the high-powered flash/thumb drive all ready to go, but I can’t find anyone with a PC or a laptop to copy Windows 10 installation for me.I haven’t used this yet, but I feel certain it has superpowers and does a wonderful job of storing files and pictures and whatever it’s supposed to do. I’m really not too clear on the details of all that. It fits in my laptop just right, so all I need now is a donor to put Windows 10 installation on this flash/thumb drive and then I can try to install it on my crashed laptop with my Windows key.This is a very well made, high powered (at least to me) flash/thumb drive with 64 GB of storage space. It has a USB 3.0 64 GB USB-C to USB-A design, and obviously it has a high storage capacity. It does work very well, after I tried it at a neighbor’s home, but unfortunately he didn’t have Windows 10 for me. I know this product is just what I need to keep trying to fix my laptop, and all I have to do now is find someone with Windows 10 installation on a PC or laptop. This is an excellent product that I’d recommend highly for storage or for situations like mine. Obviously, I curse myself for not saving a copy of Win 10 on a thumb drive when I got the laptop, but the only thing I can do now is try to fix it, and this is the perfect tool for the job.
