I laughed, I cried
I was on the fence about this book. I put it in my order list and wish list, then removed it, and repeated several times before actually buying. I am so glad I bought it finally! These are short stories about different women and their history/lives. I laughed and cried at several stories and somehow felt a bond to those in the book. I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone! This book is one that you can read over and over and not get tired of it.Whether you need a little motivation for your running or just a good read, you will not be sorry for purchasing this book.

Quick and fun read
Good way to pass a few hours and/or get inspired for your next run. Could be read straight through or one story at a time. I enjoyed each of the individual stories, although some of them were dangerously close to the "inspiration porn" category. I was a bigger fan of the overall impact and the message that running can be a sport that bands women together regardless of speed or competitiveness.

Read this book- Just Amazing!
The stories in this book captured the exact essence of why women run. They aren't sappy or pathetic, but rather stories about strength, overcoming, empowerment and the bond between people. It's about how family and friends can help you to see your true self and the strength that you embody. These stories all revolve around running, but they are about way more than that. You don't have to be a runner to appreciate how the friendships and ups and downs of life can make you stronger. Read this book to be inspired!

Ready for more!
I very much enjoyed the personal nature of the story each runner had to tell. One or two were a little to much brag for me. Most provided inspiration and joy at the growth the runner achieved by their running. More than a couple brought a tear to my eye. I encourage the writers to create an annual supplement. (Keep it simple and don't over do it the way the Chicken Soup guys have done.) I look forward to more! Thanks. egm, Vermont

chicken soup for the woman runner
a good set of inspiring stories. Since I am an older runner, I especially liked the ones about the women that started running when they were older. It also makes me want to find a women's running group to join.

Funny, Inspiring
Growing up in the 60's and 70's there were not many sports opportunities for women. I remember well how tough it was for the women that were trying to break in to mostly male sports like running. One of the profiles in the book is about Cheryl Trewogy, mom to Shalane Flanagan. She was banned from the high school track and had trouble buying running clothes. She talked about how tough it was to be a pioneer.Hers is just one of many inspiring stories, yes the book is about running, but it is also about the bond formed by women as they run and tackle the issues of life together. One of those groups was the running Jane's a group of mom runners that met every morning and not only ran together but helped each other through the tough spots in life many of them went through. Great book, I laughed and i cried.Chris WodkeAuthor-Running for My Life-Winning for CMT

I loved this book. It was full of 'real' people's stories of why they began running. It motivated me a lot to get out there more!
