Q: How many come? Is this price for one or a set of four?

Price is for a set of four. Really good coaster.

Q: Are these the white gypsum type or the sandstone type coaster

They were advertised as sandstone, but I suspect these are gypsum. While sandstone is very absorbent, and a glass with condensation on it soaks into the stone, these have a shinier finish and water pools on the surface. They're certainly attractive, but not what I wanted, and I was given a refund.
