Mascots and Mugs. Review
This is a book for all graff heads. If you want to know the history of graffiti cartoons then this is the one for you. This takes off from where "Subway art" finished. This has every thing from the early 1970s graffiti from Stay High 149, Cliff 3YB, Blade TC5. Threw to 80s Doze Green TC5,Doc TC5 Vaughn Bode, Seen UA, Skeme TNT. This book even has an interview with Mode 2.If you serious about graffiti art, then buy this book

Great book
Great book for my collection but there was damage on the back cover. Not a huge deal as it's the back cover but it's always better with no damage.

a trip back in time
well what can i say.this book is dope.from start to finish it keeps the reader interrested.the interviews with some of new yorks king and pioneers of graffiti are well detailed with out dragging on.the pictures are great even thoo some of them are over 30 years old.this book is a trip back in time.also i loved the fact that there was plenty of text.alot of graffiti books try to avoid this or just dont have much text.this is part of the reason the book got 5 stars.for me i really like reading.so having alot of text is just a added bonus.if you enjoyed books like dondi,t-kid,fuzz,hip hop files, then get this book.my only gripe is that i didnt spring for the limited edtion...oh and its pretty thick too,so lots of pictures, lots of text.a great all round graff book, from the early graff times in new york city!

There are other books that have all that new age -synthetic - no soul pieces but it's something you can't explain- it's The Funk
This book when I opened it took me back to the first time I opened up 'Subway Art'. Chino hit the nail on the head and REALLY GETS IT!!! I used to see his tags up back in Qrazy Ass Queens when DBI and TMR were reigning all over the highways and walls. There are other books that have all that new age -synthetic - no soul pieces but it's something you can't explain- it's The Funk - it oozes from every page and every turn is like a new present! - a gift of the inner mind - just like rock and roll or rap (not hip hop - just listen to what KRS said) when Graf was in it's infancy and then it's golden era, it was special and had heart and now it's just doesn't mean the same and there are artists out there that are technically advanced but they don't have "IT". They lost their way and maybe - just maybe if they pick up classics like 'Mascots and Mugs' and search out your elder writers (believe me they are out there and happy to Wax Poetic/ or if they have books - like FuzzOne - read them- listen to real stories of how it was and grab that magic and put your heart into it - whether it be on paper or out on walls and discover the love of this True Art form!!!
