What a delight!
This is such an enjoyable book, and one to keep and go back to. Being of the same generation as Jenny, I was taken back to my childhood and bathed in nostalgia of my Mum's cooking including the comfort of hotpots, rice pudding and stewed apples (sometimes too frequently) from our garden. I smiled at memories of family holidays, picnics on the beach and outings to pick blackberries. Love the photos and family stories. Jenny's recipes combine some old favourites with inspiration to try something new. Note to self: if Stuart really bought the ingredients for, and made, the "Naughty" Date and brandy pudding, that is a must to try...although maybe to share with friends or make in smaller quantities! Must get that Tagine out of the cupboard and buy pheasant at the local Farmers' Market. How have I managed so long without Quince, Madeira or rose petals in my store? I do actually have a pot of thyme on my balcony. That's a start. Lively, witty and touching. A great read!

A wonderful book
I bought this book to expand my repertoire of recipes and its really great. I've tried several and the butternut squash risotto is my favourite so far. An unusual blend of tried and tested recipes and a personal story of a life well lived. Highly recommended.
