History how i like it!
This is a little gem of a book. 224 pages may seem small for a book on such a broad subject, but i like the fact that, with books like this if a subject interests you, then you can then read more indepth books on those subjects (I have just, upon finishing this book, ordered 3 books for indepth history on people featured in this book).Queen Victoria died in 1901 leaving a Europe that seemed closer then ever, especially because most of the Royalty in Europe was related, especially to Victoria and her successors Edward VII and George V.Yet within 17 years Europe was ripped apart by the Great War and at least half of Europe's Royalty had lost their thrones, some in cold blood.A great book into what happened to these familys and 16 pages of fascinating Photos/Paintings of those lifes.

Interesting book
An enjoyable book. Luckily I have been reading up quite a lot recently on Queen Victoria, her children and grandchildren, so I was able to follow the book and various characters quite easily. Interesting to read about how things changed for European monarchy post 1918.

I absolutely loved this book
I absolutely loved this book. One of the reasons may be that I like John Van der Kiste and his style of writing. But even if you are not a fan of his, but like this period of history, give it a try. This book is very informative and really explains well how the world has changed. Best of all, it's based on the lives of royalty, so it makes it highly entertaining too. I'm surprised we haven't had good television series about them. Recommended ;-)
