Q: can you use this in the microwave?

Not recommended. The structure of the kettle would cause uneven heating and the water would burst out of the spout and burn. The glass is Pyrex and would withstand the heat, but only some of the water would boil. Additionally, the cover would melt. My lid tab melted when the thumb tab was resting on the spout.

Q: It’s it difficult to remove the lid to pour out the hot water?

It fits tightly but is not difficult to remove.
