Interesting subject matter/abysmal writing
Being a lifelong fan of Robin Williams and Phil Hartman, I anticipated an interesting read. For a very short time it was. But the quality of the writing is atrocious. Most egregiously, I counted at least 10 or more typos/grammatical errors. Examples: page 22: (speaking of Robin Williams) “I always found his serious performances… much more interesting than his serious roles.” Huh? Obviously meant more interesting than his comedic roles. Page 55: (discussing Phil and Brynn Hartman’s relationship: “There once manic sex life became almost non-existent.” THERE?? Page 77: (discussing Phil) “[He] had grown into his role as a wide elder statesman.” WIDE? Did you mean “wise?” Ugh. The book is also filled with endless redundancies, repetitions and fifth grade level analysis and writing quality. I can’t believe this “author” is a doctor, and can’t believe a competent editor didn’t catch all these mistakes. Ugh. Rant over. I won’t waste my time seeking a refund for a $10 book, but if this author has made significant money on this book he is incredibly fortunate, and frankly undeserving.
