Long handled and sturdy set of hooks.
I grew tired of cobbling my own set of hooks together and purchased a set of cheap, Chinese made hooks and picks from Harbor Freight. They did the job in a pinch, but the quality was lacking, and they really were short, cumbersome things to use. Wasted purchase in the end, more or less. After dealing with those I finally sprung for a better quality, made in good old USA set from Ullman. The build quality is impressive, as much as picks and hooks can be. The handles are nice and long, which so far has been a plus in trying to retrieve gaskets and little internal parts. There may be some jobs they are too long for, but nothing has come up yet. The handles have small padded sections to them, although the padding is rather hard. Not a complaint, just something to note. The assortment is nice to have and they come in a decent vinyl like pouch, although I suspect the pouch will tear with age and exposure to organics. Not a negative, again.Highly recommended.

Pay for these now, or pay for it later
The cost of not having a tool like this around when you need it, is wanting to kill yourself when you do need it. What these tools make better are the nightmare scenarios which often arise when doing DIY repairs: mistakes. Lost a rubber gasket in the intake manifold? Good luck without this. Need to replace an injector o-ring in a tight spot your fingers can't get close to? Either get these, or push your car into the ocean. Your screwdriver will not do the same job.Keep this cheap little set of picks on hand, and eventually, you'll feel like a genius. These picks are awesome, pick them up.

Got Craftsman 941634 instead.
I received a Craftsman 941634 pick set instead of the Ullman set--ordered June, 2017 from TheHardwareSource, fulfilled by Amazon. The picks appear to be identical, down to the cushioned grip. I assume that TheHardwareSource substituted this for some reason? The Craftsman set is made in the USA, and are high quality. It generally costs about twice what the Ullman set does. Also at the time I purchased, they were eligible for prime shipping, now they show as an add-on item instead.

Good Quality Set
Such specialty tools like these are nice luxuries to add to your arsenol - for creating a little ease in those tight-quarters applications. Sure, I use to grab an awl or other sharp pointed tool to try to dig out bad O-rings, etc. when in a pinch - I just want to get the job done. But after enduring a few hard-to-get situations that caused unwanted delay in a pressure washing task I was into.... I researched/ordered these. These picks are very well made. The handles are very sturdy, comfortable, and the tool steel of the shafts is excellent. One reviewer hit the set on one negative concerning the plastic case. Although I see the point there, I find it to be very minor. I would certainly like to see all such specialty tools served up in a nice sturdy case that would last a lifetime. But it is what it is......and I think with a little care exercised, the case will hold up sufficiently for years. But that will of course depend on the individual user's habits and use. Over-all, I have used them for the O-ring retrieval mentioned and also removing some seal/washers in a faucet sprayer I replaced in my kitchen. The set is very useful, having different angle/bends on the tips and they have stiff enough construction to remove any potential fear of bending or breaking tips during normal expected uses.I recommend them over any others I have seen so far - for what that's worth!Over

Wonderful All Around Use Hook and Pick Set
This is a very nice assortment hook and pick set. You can do just about anything small or delicate with the different hooks, packing and O-ring removal, probing tight spots to remove small fragments of material etc, and it's easy to stow in the little plastic packet. I thought that having only one grip might be a problem, but I find that I only use one tip for the job I'm working on so it turns out to be no problem at all. And the tips fit securely into the grip threads that are quite substantial. I don't see how you can get a better deal for less than $5, I will certainly get a lot of use out of this nifty little hook and pick set.

great set
I work in a machine shop and use/ break picks all the time. This set has held up for over a week and I expect much longer. They are such a great value I will be buying another set or two just to have as back ups.

If you don't have these, you need them..
Mechanics picks have a lot of versatility and they belong in every toolbox. I bought a few sets of these because I want to lathe my own handles and give them as gifts.
