I light arrives fully discharged and needs 8 hours of bright sunshine to charge it. This makes it difficult to check that it works. It was still dead for me after charging for 3 days in daylight. That might explain the returns. You press a button to set the mode but there is nothing to tell you what mode you set. Luckily I had a sunny day and managed to get it into the correct mode. Once set up it works fine. It detects anyone coming near it and has a bright light. The AAA efficiency rating should mean the charge will last long time. I have yet to test it during darker winter months.

I am actually contemplating sending this back as even though it as 318 Leds and they are white the power of the light is rather sub standard. I have had multipack security lights with 300LEDS which work better than this one.You would think that having a solar panel on a cable for you to position where there is more light would mean the light had more power and was brighter, not in this case.Motion sensor does not pick my dogs up when it is positioned at/above 6ft, but does pick people up ok.Motion sensor/Light positioned between 4ft and 5ft6inches works better to pick people and animals up.I would recommend if you install this light, do not install above 6ft as the throw and power of the light isn't that good.The only advantage to me right now is it as the extended wire and solar panel, so if I keep it, then it will be used a secondary light and back up to other lights already installed.

This kit doesn’t have a light sensor on the light end . Instead, it uses the current that provided by the polar panel to determine whether the environment is dark or not. In my application, I uses it as a roof light for a garden shed. That’s to say, the panel is been placed outside the shed. During daytime, the environment is light but the shed inside is dark, the light won’t turn on, which is annoying. I ended up installing a separate switch for the light to make the light think the environment is dark.

It works OK in the dark, not super bright but it's OK, problem I had is the light is installed in a dark shed but if the solar panel is in any light (on shed roof) the light doesn't work, couldn't turn it on manually until it got dark, not great for a shed without windows if i covered the solar panel the motion detection was ok at about 1.5 metres and the light worked until I uncovered to solar panel the the light stopped working again

Being able to separate the pv panel from the light is very useful for me in certain places. What I’d really like now is one where the PIR is also separate from both the lamp and the panel.

Very easy to set up. The length of wire from light to solar panel is a very decent length. Motion detection very good . Gives a very strong bright light.

It doesn't work when connected and installed to its solar panel. Inorder to light up you have to disconnect solar panel wire and then the light will function.

Works well as designed, but just be aware, this is not suitable for lighting a permanently dark area as the light sensor is on the solar unit, not the lamp unit. I purchased this to light a windowless shed, and although the interior of the shed is always dark, if the solar panel sees daylight the lamp will not come on. Unfortunately I believe this is common to most makes and designs.
