Excellent quality, but PRACTICE
This review is more for those who don't know much about throw bags, like me before buying this. First, a thank you to those who took the time to write a review. They were all very helpful to me in deciding to buy this bag.The bag of rope is EXCELLENT. No cons that I can think of, other than the price may seem a bit high. And the light stick holder doesn't hold a light stick very tightly. Not sure it would be useful given how easily the stick comes out.Although I didn't have ANY experience with throw bags, I do have a lot of experience kayaking and camping in the backcountry, and the use of ropes. This is great quality rope and the bag seems very durable and functional. Now, for those who are not familiar with throwing bags like this, I HIGHLY recommend some practice before putting yourself in an emergency situation. Here is why: I played outfield in softball for decades, throwing thousands and thousands of balls over the years. I can throw rocks, footballs, and all sorts of balls. But I looked liked a complete dork when this bag arrived and I went to show my kids how to throw it. One thing I quickly learned is that throwing underhand is VERY different than the throwing I am experienced with. My first "throw" with this thing went straight UP. Surely if I had actually been throwing to a victim on the water, they would have quickly turned from hope to despair..On the other hand, they may have been uplifted by uncontrolled laughter. One thing is for sure, I would have failed at saving them. So, PRACTICE, and then practice more. It took me about a dozen attempts to finally throw this bag effectively, at my target, the full length of the rope. My first few throws, only about 40-50 feet of rope was coming out. I felt that there was no way it could be possible for it all to come out, as I felt I was making good throws. Keep practicing. With each throw I was throwing it further and further. Before long, you will be able to throw the bag and end up with all 75' of rope outside of the bag.The rope is easy to store back into the bag and it never once got caught while throwing. Also, as a softball player, I figured I could probably throw this thing better overhand. Nope. Just not the same as throwing a ball. I found underhand throwing the best option for this bag. Of course, in an emergency, you throw it whichever way makes the most sense.Have fun, be safe, and practice. You will be glad you did if you are ever in an emergency situation.

This is a great rescue rope and the price is rite
This is a great rescue rope and the price is rite. But I bought it for my kayak and in hind site its too long and bulky. This is more of a bank rescue rope for rivers. Buy something more compact for your kayak.

Excellent Bag
This is an outstanding throw bag. I had used a throw bag years ago in a training situation but got this to take on a rafting trip with some inexperienced people. I threw it twice when I got it to be sure it threw properly (and full distance), and to make sure repacking worked OK. Within 30 minutes on the river someone was out of the raft and floundering in the current. I grabbed the bag, threw in front of him and he drifted to the rope, grabbed it, and I pulled him in. I'm incredibly glad I had it, and it worked perfectly. As I said, I'd used throw bags in the past so knew how to use one when I purchased the Mustang Throw Bag. Using a throw bag is NOT intuitive; if you are planning to use one in a potentially life threatening situation--and that IS why you are buying this--make sure you learn how to use it. Practice throwing, stuffing, and throwing some more. You'll not save someone if you can't get the bag to them!A few things I like: --70 feet (versus more normal 50 foot) --reflective strip around outside --mesh enhances draining and lets me see in to ensure it's properly packed --good diameter ropeHighly recommended!

EXCELLENT THROW BAG!
Just finished practicing with the bag in the front yard after carefully reading up on how to put the bag back together. It is pretty simple but if your serious about having and maybe using this life saver device then you need to learn all about it and practice with it, albeit a bit boring, but if you need it, you need to employ it correctly. Its high quality, I have Mustang inflatable vests and Mustang quality is very high on all their products. I am 77yo and able to throw it 45' with good accuracy, so one of my crew, a younger, stronger member is going to be trained as primary user (thrower). Working with lines (rope until it gets placed aboard a watercraft) I have done dumb things, lines can be lifesavers but can take lives if not focused. Not used on water yet I can only guess that it floats, both the rope and bag, and I am sure I will not be disappointed. Mustang is good stuff!
