GENUINE Frigidaire 242252702 Water Valve for Refrigerator

I don't normally do reviews unless I find something that's really bad or really good. This one is REALLY GOOD!I bought this to replace a valve in a 14-yr-old Frigidaire Pro Series side by side refrigerator. I looked over the half-dozen or so valves on Amazon and chose this one because it was middle-priced and had only a handful of negative reviews. But I was still apprehensive as the negative reviews mentioned a non-genuine part and leaking connectors. I'm happy to say that my experience was all positive.The item came in an Electrolux box with the Frigidaire logo (as well as others) on it and looks identical to the one it is replacing, so it appears to be a genuine OEM part.One of my concerns was that I would replace the valve only to find it is not the problem at all, or that maybe the replacement was a dud, and I would have no way of knowing which. I was pleased to see that the box included a detailed diagnostic sheet with a thorough step-by step procedure for determining if the existing valve is indeed faulty and needs replacing. As a side benefit, the procedures gave me a thorough understanding of exactly how the refrigerator water system works. I followed the procedure and, sure enough, the old valve was bad.Installation was a snap. No special tools needed and the electrical and water connections are all color-coded. Unlike with other reviewers, my old valve already had the push-in connectors, so I did not even need to trim the tubes. They inserted smoothly and snuggly into the new connectors. I reconnected the water supply and tested all of the functions and they worked perfectly. And there are absolutely NO LEAKS anywhere.Maybe some of the negative reviewers got production lemons or didn't install correctly, but mine works like a charm. Next hurdle will be the test of time as some reviewers reported theirs stopped working after only a few weeks. But for now, I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I would recommend this one to anyone.

my frigidaire work perfectly again

16 year old Frigidaire fridge suddenly stopped pumping water and making ice one day. Looked at the rear of the fridge and noticed the water and ice lines are separately routed but both tee off this one part, so I knew it wasn’t a filter clog or frozen line somewhere. Bought this genuine OEM Frigidaire part after watching videos online showing how to replace it, looked easy enough and it truly was. Tips I would share:The valve on some older models uses screw-on compression hoses versus the quick connect ports on this part. If you have a valve with screw-on fittings, don’t panic - websites like PartSelect and AppliancePartsPros have videos on YouTube showing how to deal with the conversion, it’s super simple, just cut the nipple off the end of each line with a sharp utility knife 1/8" behind the nipple, there's plenty of extra line available. I recommend the watching the PartSelect video, very straight-forward and easy to understand.The hoses and power connectors are color coded, but there’s a catch: the power connectors are able to be installed backwards. Be sure to snap a photo of the part BEFORE you disconnect thins so you can get your wiring correct. It’s convenient everything is color-coded, but I didn’t see this warning before I unplugged things and had to figure out which way was correct.If your original part was quick-connect and not the screw-on type, you still need to cut 1/8 inch or so off the tubes after removing them from the old part to ensure a clean connection into the new part's quick-connect, else you may leak. Be sure to tug on the water line firmly after pushing the hose fully in to confirm it’s fully locked in. This is recommended in most online videos, but it's worth reiterating here. Use a wood block and a sharp utility knife to trim the hose perpendicular for best fitment, you don't want any angle on the end of the hose or the quick connect won't fit as snugly as it could.This is an easy 15-20 minute repair for the average human, requiring a super-limited set of tools. Biggest Issues to watch out for are leaks and electric shock. Be sure to have towels and a capture cup for water when you unhook things. Don’t forget to turn off water and power before starting and test for leaks before buttoning things up by tapping out some water and forcing an ice cycle to happen.This $60 part is saving me from a $200+ repair bill, also save me from dropping $3k or more on a new fridge ... at least for a couple more years. I wish all repairs were this easy!Quick edit: I see some low-rated reviews saying they didn't receive an OEM Frigidaire part from this listing. Mine definitely was genuine OEM, it came in a Frigidaire OEM box, it contained an OEM Frigidaire label and numbering. If you receive a non-OEM part, you may want to contact Amazon Support.

My ice maker stopped dispensing ice. After researching a bit I came to the conclusion that it was my water inlet valve that was likely malfunctioning. I found the replacement for a good price. It shipped and delivered quickly. It was an exact match with easy to follow instructions. Took 10 minutes to replace and my ice maker is working again.

I'm incredibly pleased with this purchase. The part I received was indistinguishable from the part I was replacing, and it immediately worked upon installation. When re-seating the water lines into the replacement part, be certain to push until it makes a "click" to fully seat it.After many years, our fridge's water dispenser had begun to delay several seconds before water would begin to flow. This same delayed-flow issue meant that our ice maker had also stopped working; all the automated processes within the ice machine depend upon water flowing readily, and within an expected timeframe. The old solenoid's delay of 5 or more seconds resulted in no water making it into the ice tray before the ice maker had shut off the water line and moved on to the next step in its process.When swapping out parts, it was surprisingly straightforward. All of the electrical components, and most of the water lines between the fridge and solenoid valve are color coordinated. Brown, yellow, green, and white.I've also made a determination to go back behind my fridge once or twice a year to gently vacuum off the accumulated dust from the refrigerator coils. My understanding is this will improve efficiency, and hopefully increase the life of the fridge and all its components.

I found out in the spring that I didn't winterize my Frigidaire Professional fridge at my cottage properly and the frozen water split this part as well as the water filter in the fridge. I looked this up, ordered it and it arrived quickly. I found a video on the internet about how to install it and it was very straight forward to install. If yours broke due to freezing you may also need a new water filter so order it at the same time!

When I installed it, it was not working right, no water coming through. I turned off the water supply and went away for 3 days. Upon my return I turned on the water supply, and small amount about 30% of water started filling the tray. The next day, it started filling up with water at 100%, by the next day the ice box is full of ice cubes. It finally work successfully.
