Cadillac Classics 1932 Cadillac Fleetwood Series 355-B Town Sedan For 1932 models, Cadillac designed them longer and lower. The roof line was lowered three inches. New front styling included a flat grille built into the radiator shell, headlights and sidelights made to simulate a bullet design, and elimination of the fender tie-bar and monogram bars. Dual horn trumpets projected through the headlight stanchions. The longer engine hood covers now contained six vent ports. Running boards were now curved to match the sweep of the wider front fender design and narrower to blend into the rear fenders. The driver's line of vision was increased by 30% as a result of elimination of the outside visor and implementation of a new 12-degree sloping of the windshield and corner posts to give a more aerodynamic look. A new three-spoke steering wheel now provided an easier view of the instrument cluster ahead of the driver. Despite these improvements, calendar year sales of all Cadillacs dropped to their lowest level since 1914 (the final year of the 4-cylinder Cadillac engine) at just 9,153 units including LaSalle models. A U.S. economy in full-blown depression was to blame - not the highly-regarded Cadillac products.
