This Is Me

It should be called woe is me - the memoir
To be honest I was expecting to give this a 5 star review I loved her when she first came out but it was just a bit meh. It's nothing we don't already know about her really other than her childhood (and it's a extremely normal childhood) I also didn't realise I was going to be buying her wedding album we see those pictures enough on instagram. It's a shame that she gets "trolled" although our opinions on that word differ. I have been on the website she talks about and have never seen fat shaming if anything I was reading the opposite people were concerned she had lost so much weight whilst she was pregnant. If that happened then it's awful but there's only so long she can play the troll card surely?I also found the book very contradictory she says Ronnie can't have an Instagram because she wants to protect him, but he's plastered all over hers. Some of the things she's been through are sad but I don't understand why influencers put their entire life out there for people to comment on and then dislike people commenting on it.She has helped many people and that is great but if she wants to be in this industry (clearly she does if she's signed with gleam) she needs to either get thicker skin or keep her private life off it and focus on the cleaning side like she used too and the reason most people followed her.I would recommend this book if you're that invested in her life.If you want to read anything new and exciting though this isn't for you.No doubt I'll be called a troll for my opinion but I'm just trying to give an honest review.

Tone deaf
A one stop b+m pity party shop... could not have been more disappointed in this book. It is a poor mixture of telling us nothing new / shouting from the roof tops about poor me. I appreciate that being trolled is deeply unpleasant and this isn’t something I support happening to anyone but seriously I don’t need to read about how hard Mrs Hinch finds her life when her insta is littered with “gifted” items and paid ads. Her life must be truly hard particularly in light of the current pandemic where neither her or her husband have had to act as key workers, worry about cash or face redundancy and have both had the absolute privilege of staying at home looking after the wee star that is Ronnie and their gorgeous dog Henry (no sarcasm here - they are lovely) Until she “cleans up” her act and returns to the authentic Mrs Hinch that we all totally embraced at the start and loses this “public figure” (her words not mine) arrogance I will not be following any more. Total shame as I used to love her insta page but I just cannot help but feel really let down and can’t help but find this poorly written book to be utterly tone deaf.

Really terrible
Absolutely awful. Do we really want to go back to the 50s? This woman only seems to have women followers who don’t have anything else to do but clean. There’s so many articulate, intellectual, inspiring women out there, there is absolutely nothing in this book that’s inspiring. If you are a feminist, stay well clear. It does seem like a pity party. Online trolling is terrible, I certainly would never put myself out there and especially not my kids because I know how cruel people are. This is in no way blaming her but if it is that bad it would be an idea to step away untill online trolling is treated more like a crime. I have a feeling this was just a sob story for the book as her sons face is clear as day online. She could easily pull him away now, as a baby, give it a year or so no one would recognise him.The Caroline flack mention was a real low and I’d be upset as Caroline’s family to have my daughters name mentioned in a memoir by someone who did not have a relationship with her. Very low blow. Please spend your money on educating people about real feminist issues and find women who contribute to the world.

Disappointed.
I have to say that unfortunately I was very disappointed by this book. I got the audible version but have now returned it. A lot of things in the book are contradicting things she said at other points in this same book. I found a lot of it to be quite patronising and she often sounded quite passive agressive, like she was directing it to the trolls. I lost count of how many times she mentioned 'I paid in full'. I was sad to hear that she was suffering PND, but as someone suffering around the same time, it would have been nice to see her open up at the time (i appreciate that she may well wouldn't have wanted people to know then, I didn't, but why now in a new book). Also she highlights things trolls have said about her baby in the book and I can't help but think it has now ensured he will read about it when he's older, when he might otherwise not ever known of any awful things said about him.It left me feeling quite alienated by her, like being famous is a hindrance to her and i certainly wouldn't feel comfortable approaching her for a chat or anything now. Sorry for the negative review, I wouldn't normally leave one but I was annoyed by all the 'it's AMAZING! I've just started it' reviews.
