Great book in great shape.
Love this book but somehow lost my autographed copy. Ordered this one when I saw the price. Bonus: it was autographed as well, just not personalized as mine was.

A One Of A Kind Look Into The Mind Of A Bodybuilding Legend!
Dave Draper is one of the true legends of bodybuilding. I'm old enough to remember seeing him as a guest star on shows like the Beverly Hillbillies (where he had a case of "Bar Bells" according to Grannie) and the Monkees. Recently I watched the old movie "Don't Make Waves" with he, Karen Tate, and Tony Curtis.Dave is a very philosophical bodybuilder, one who really has a true passion for training that extends far beyond the competitive aspect of it. I can definitely relate to this. I am a fitness professional, never having competed (though considering doing some masters Physique in the future as a 'bucket list' sort of thing) but ultimately it is the PROCESS of training that interests me more than anything.Dave really expresses his love for this process in a way that is very unique. His use of language is a bit different and it takes some getting used to, but at the same time this also contributes to the uniqueness of this text.If you are a fan of training, a fan of Dave's (he also gets into his experiences so there is a lot of autobiographical material here, plus a large selection of magazine covers at the end), and the inner mindset of bodybuilding you will most likely enjoy this book!I am personally grateful for the fact that he took the time to write it!

Dave had a flair for writing
Some of the book was taken verbatim from his previous book. It’s a light, interesting read.

One of the "best" books available
Dave Draper has written one of the best books about bodybuilding that I've had the pleasure to read...and I've read a lot of them. There are a couple of weaknesses so let's cover those first. Dave is a talented and skilled writer but his "style" may not suit everyone...life goes on. This is not a "step by step" textbook for the absolute beginner, though it does contain very useful information for those just starting out. The book assumes a certain level of knowledge about bodybuilding and weight training. So much for the negatives. The positives of this book are too many to list. Rather than spit out "cut and dried" routines of the sort common in almost every weight training book, Dave instead seeks to equip the reader with a certain amount of insight, advice and instruction...then gently prods the reader to find their own way. While doing this, he cuts through a lot of the "flash and trash," mythology and outright hucksterism that is rampant in the bodybuilding world. As a bonus, you receive insights into the heart and mind of a man that has achieved much, suffered and lost much and regained much. Dave is genuine...so is this book.

I enjoyed it. Even though I am not a bodybuilder
I was not even a toddler during the heyday of bodybuilding's "Blonde Bomber," but as a long time devotee of the Iron Game, I've read a lot about him. Now, thanks to his book, I've had the pleasure of experiencing some of his written work. And, I must say, I enjoyed it. Even though I am not a bodybuilder, I was very impressed with the way he writes. He combines the the accumulated knowledge from his bodybuilding career, clear and skillful writing, and enough humor to make you not want to put the book ( or kindle ) down. And his love of training is evident on just about every page, it seems to be boiling just beneath the surface, ready to explode. And he wants the reader to share his passion for working out. And if, after having read this book, you're not inspired, then you should be embalmed.

Book in poor condition
This book was in no condition to sell. It had obviously been soaked with water previously.

Great Prose. Make bookmarks for workouts you like.
Great prose. The book jumps around. A table of contents would be helpful. There are no exercise photos for reference. The exercises are good. A few of them are not explained. He says he takes "pro hormones" from a family doctor for testosterone and human growth hormone in one chapter, and then claims he is against steroids in another chapter. I am trying his favorite workout, and it is pretty good so far. Maybe someday I will gain another pound of muscle. I keep trying different work outs.

Dave Draper is a body building legend and icon who happens to also be a very good writer. He has a very unique and poetic writing style. The book's content consists of information on routines and how to perform specific exercises, information on dieting and nutrition, as well as his personal recollections and stories about his life and his time during the golden age of body building. I especially like this book because it reads as if the blonde bomber is sitting across from you telling you his story- reads like a novel, not dry and boring like an encyclopedia. If you enjoy lifting weights, you will enjoy this and find his story inspiring.
