Last year my dahlias where wiped out by a marauding army of slugs and snails all intent on devouring the shoots despite all my attempts to protect them. This time, after much research, I thought I would try copper tape but without much conviction as every other form of protection had failed miserably.This year the slugs and snails are still around in large numbers but so far only one snail has managed to penetrate my defences. I have constructed mini frames (about 12 " x 12"up to 24" x 24") to fit round each plant from spare 5" dismantled pallet wood. The copper tape was affixed one inch below the top of the frame - the theory being that a vertical plane might prove a little more difficult to negotiate.Very pleased with the results and have several 2 foot high dahlias which have been in flower for the last two weeks or so.Just as well as none of my dahlia stocks in the borders have yet to emerge.The copper tape is quite expensive but go for a quality "guitar" version at least 2" wide.

Great for forming a ground screen in guitar bodies, seals out the interference very well. Adhasions a bit iffy in spots but its easy to form around corners.

Works well for EMI shielding.

This copper tape has be really good at repelling slugs and snails on my raised vegetable beds. Surprisingly it stops spiders too!
