Compact Dock With Ethernet & VGA Connections! Perfect For My Application
It’s nice to have a USB-C power delivery dock for my Dell laptop. I love that I can come home, pull out my little laptop and putting in one plug can have it connected to my big monitor and nice desktop keyboard, mouse, peripherals and hard-wired network. And power too. This passes through power to the laptop. Sweet. In my case I needed one with a VGA and Ethernet connection. I use a KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) switch that takes only VGA video so having that is a hard requirement for me or anyone who has a older monitor that still works fine.I like the generous number of USB 3.0 plugs, the 2 HDMI ports available if needed and the card reader and the analog audio jack. This does NOT come with a AC power adapter. The intent is either buy one or use the one that came with your laptop. I bought a Dell work-alike model and it works great with this dock. The one I use when away is snug away in the laptop case. This is not a negative as power needs vary widely and an appropriate power supply should be selected. Note that this unit can pass through up to 100W. My laptop charger at 65 watts is perfectly happy. FYI.This dock has a small package. I’ve been told that good things come in small packages and this sure proves that. It’s small and does everything I want with no muss, no fuss. If you are using this at home I do think getting an appropriate USB-C power adapter is a great plus. I’m quite pleased and that gets this little and inexpensive unit 5 stars from me.

When it's functioning, it's fine.
I tried this with my HP Elitebook, first with a 45w USB-C charger (didn't work at all, no pass-through charging, no video, no network) then with a 65w USB-C charger ordered from Amazon. OK, so now I have external video for at least one monitor, should in theory be good to power three if your graphics card is up to it (2 HDMI, one VGA - no Displayport.)Network working, yay. And the laptop is charging. So what's the issue?Literally every time this unit is touched, moved, a cable jiggled, darn near if you look at it funny or talk mean to it, you'll hear the Windows disconnect sound, then the Windows connect sound, Windows explorer will crash and reload, and then eventually, your external monitor will come back, your network will come back, etc.I'm not talking about yanking on things, twisting cables, or cable not seated correctly either. Bump the unit very lightly, hear "boo-do-doop", wait for explorer to crash. Very consistently.

Not enough for one cable, but it wasn't going to be
My Dell laptop uses a 130W charging brick, so I can't quite get away with this as my only charger. I mean, I almost can, but having to click the "yes I know this charger isn't 130W" thing is about as annoying as just plugging in a second cable. With a USB extension, this device does mean that I don't need more than the two cables.A flaw all of these dock devices have is that the cables are short. I needed an extension, as noted. Also, this one doesn't include a DisplayPort. If HDMI is all you need, though, this has two. It's also got VGA, which is now becoming a rarity. Tested, works. I still find that to be a useful feature with some older projectors.Did not overheat feeding my laptop the full 100W that it can supply.

works like it should, lightweight and easy to pack
When I requested this product I was looking for a usb hub. Obviously I was mistaken and I got a lot more. When I travel, I typically take one or two external drives. This hub handles multiple USB ports but also provides dual HDMI and ethernet.I use one of the USB C ports (PD port) for power to my laptop and the second for a 1T NVME SSD. I use one of the USB 3 ports for the backup drive. This configuration works flawlessly.Since I don't have the need (or haven't yet anyway) I haven't tried the HDMI ports and I use WiFi for Ethernet.
