Ho ordinato "The Culture of Connectivity: a critical history of Social Media" su Amazon per la qualità del servizio al quale mi ha abituato da anni e anche per i tempi di consegna più rapidi rispetto ad altri posti (meno di una settimana in questo caso Vs minimo 10 giorni per gli altri siti). Il saggio è arrivato fortunatamente nella data prevista. Ciò mi ha permesso di sostituire una copia in prestito di cui la copertina era un po' rovinata e che preferivo restituire in condizioni migliori. In merito alla versione che ho ricevuto, la copertina non era molto rigida. Tuttavia, la qualità della stampa e della carta erano buone nell'insieme.Per chi volesse capire l'evoluzione dei social media e il loro impatto sulle nostre pratiche culturali e sulla nostra vita quotidiana, troverebbe in questo libro tante risposte pertinenti. La cosa che lo distingue da altre opere sul tema è che non si tratta di una semplice descrizione della storia di queste piattaforme (dal loro avvento fino al 2012) ma di un'analisi approfondita sia dell'aspetto macro che micro che caratterizzano Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr e Wikipedia.José Van Dijck, docente e studiosa olandese di grande rilievo internazionale, ci ha regalato un capolavoro in termini di contenuti e di lingua. Consigliatissimo per l'esperto che cerca di approfondire la teoria con esempi pratici o per il semplice curioso!

Very good academically researched book, highly recommended for anyone interested in the connected world. It's an absorbing read with much to provoke further researching!

This book so excellently explained platform interoperability and algorithmic persuasion that I assigned it as the course textbook for my multimedia rhetoric course. My students who were studying social media or business and marketing found it very illuminating. The freshman in my class admitted that it was very dense, especially the chapter that looks at actor network theory. I feel that this text clarified many complicated topics and delivered very objective reviews of governance systems. According to my student reviews on end of semester evaluations, however, it is certainly best for readers with a fair amount of background knowledge in the area.

Jose van Dijk can do no wrong! Fascinating read.

Love this case. I received it yesterday and the packaging was very nicely presented with clear instructions as to how to apply the case to the phone. It has a protective plastic screen over the glass touch screen as well as rubber shock absorbing around the body of the phone, and a metal backing for extra protection. I love the look of it (I got the pink) and it makes my silver/black iPhone look a bit more girly. The one complaint I have is that when I tried to plug it into my aux cord in my car, the case was too bulky and it didn't work all the way. I now have to buy a new, smaller aux cord in hopes that it will fit. I wish the case had a bigger area around the headphone jack allowing for any size to fit. But overall, I think this case will protect my phone very well. I am a college student and have been through my fair share of fracked screens, but I'm confident that this one will be very protective.
