Search no more! These are fabulous!!
I researched these boots as well as most of the other Frye women's boots because I was looking for a stylish boot that fit (without ankle droop) and has smooth 'new' leather (as opposed to antiqued beat up leather). This certainly fit the bill. They fit exactly as expected in the foot as well as the calf. No buckling at ankle or rain boot look to these. The calf fits a normal calf without being too tight. The zipper is a bit stiff but certainly manageable. These were purchased at the same time as the Dorado Riding boot and there was no comparison. Both had quality leather however the Dorado was more of the rain boot look and did not have the same feel as the Melissa Harness. I really wanted a back zip boot like the Veronica but did not want the sole to have the look of a combat boot. These boots have the smooth sole although a bit slick when you first wear them so it helps if you scuff the bottoms first. Despite other reviews these are comfortable boots and have a short break in period. First time wearing them I walked for a few hours with no blisters. I would not recommend sizing up or down as these are pretty true to size. Worth the price and I am even more happy with the purchase every day. At some point these will probably end up looking like some of the others who had the 'antiqued' leather look. Dressy enough for a dress or sexy enough with a pair of leggings or jeans. And yes, jeans do fit inside the boot!

Gorgeous & great quality, but some fit issues
These boots are so gorgeous in real life! The photo's color is fairly accurate, it's perhaps a touch less red in real life. But I like that, as it makes these just a little more versatile. The leather is really nice quality, and the zipper is easy to pull up and down yet is sewn into place strongly. They look a little long in the foot. It's hard to tell since I can't press down on the toe to feel my foot since the leather is too stiff there, but I think 8.5 may have been slightly better than the 9 I chose. Still, better to have a little extra room than not enough. The foot is pretty narrow. I have normal width feet and I would not recommend these for ladies who need wide width. The extended calf is perfect around my 15.25" inch calves. Totally comfortable and there's room for skinny jeans or thick tights. However, the ankle and heel seem to be extra wide even though the rest of the foot is not. I wish there was more contouring around the ankle. My heel slides up and down inside the boot and gets some nasty blisters on the inner side. I'm hoping this will stop as the leather softens up over time, but in the meantime I'll have to preemptively wear Band-Aids or athletic tape on that spot. Additionally, since the boot is more straight up-and-down at the ankle than my leg is, it scrunches up around the ankle instead of maintaining the stiff, professional look. I don't mind that myself, but it's something to keep in mind if you want boots that will keep their original shape. The shaft comes up very high. I'm 5'6" with about a 28" inseam, and it reaches just a little past the base of my knee. It feels fine on me, it's not rubbing the back of my knee or anything like that, but petite ladies may want to avoid this style, at least in the extended calf.It may sound like I have a lot of complaints, but I actually do love these boots. The blister-causing is the only "serious" issue, the rest is just nit-picking. These are my first pair of Fryes and I've been wearing them nonstop since they arrived. They're definitely the highest quality and nicest boots I've ever owned. I'm so glad Frye makes extended calf styles. I'm ready to buy more!

Odd fit for my feet
Very dissatisfied. I should have started wearing these soon after I bought them, but didn't and it's well past the 30 days. The right boot seems different from the left in the calf zip up area, and the toe box area doesn't have much height on either side making it not only tight, but an odd fit. My foot slides around in the heel area so feel like a bigger size won't help with this particular boot. I have narrow feet and calves and it's no easy task getting these on. Just an oddly made boot. I am trying some stretching tasks now. Hopefully that will help. I tried wearing them around the house with thick and thin socks. My feet are too tender for that nonsense. Stretching is my only hope and I hope it works because these weren't cheap boots.

Love these boots!
I have to admit that I have a bit of a boot fetish, I have purchased dozens of boots over the years with very mixed results as I have always looked for a good value. I finally bit the bullet and ordered a (relatively) expensive pair of leather boots and I couldn't be more thrilled with my purchase, it seems that you really do get what you pay for! I purchased a pair of Frye boots years ago when the styles were a bit clunky but still very well made, and it took years to wear them out. I haven't "paid up" for a sporty boot in years. These boots are everything I was looking for in a quality leather boot. The color is a deep, rich chestnut and the style is rugged yet refined without a lot of extraneous detail, they can be dressed up or down. The height is perfect at just below the knee with a slight dip on the inside calf for comfort. The leather is very firm and smells like leather, nothing synthetic about this boot. This is a beautiful, quality pair of boots that I am confident will improve with age and wear, I highly recommend them!

Four Stars
My wife loves the boot except she found the top part a bit too wide.
