I stumbled upon Laurie's book when I needed it the most. I had been in the process of writing my life story as we decided to share our stories in a small covenant group of friends. I got to a certain point in my story and kept getting stuck. I couldn't proceed because the way I kept writing it wasn't how I wanted to see my life! I realized there was a disconnect somewhere. Quite unexpectedly (and God ordained of course), I discovered Laurie's book and it literally changed everything. Her "lenses" and the Biblical support were exactly what I needed to have perspective and to position my experiences in a way that were right to me. It's hard to articulate but it was as if I was stuck seeing life through a cloudy view and couldn't change it, no matter how hard I tried, even knowing that what I "saw" wasn't altogether true! Her words help to clear the fog and give me a more accurate view and one I am happy to embrace, both the good and bad. I can see things clearer. Thank you so much for writing the book, Laurie! I really enjoyed reading it and am especially pleased with my new glasses, too!

We all need to be reminded that life is bigger then the problem we are facing today or the anxiety we are feeling or the worries that keep us awake at night. Laurie gives you tools to put things into a right perspective. My daughter's Senior Practicum was on complaining and she used Laurie's book as the source for her solution to complaining. Following is a graphic she created (based on what she learned from Laurie's book) as a reminder to young girls in her high school. She told them, "Next time you’re feeling sad, angry, irritated or just plain overwhelmed, keep in mind theses views (that Laurie teaches). Know that you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. And no matter what happens, there is a God who loves you and has EXTRAORDINARY plans for your life. SO KEEP GOING." Laurie's practical advice and stories are a great reminder to us all about how much God loves us and how blessed we are.

I love the way Laurie connects with the reader by not only using real and honest situations from her life and others, but also by referring to numerous examples throughout the Bible, as well. It enticed me to to go back and read the full stories she reflected on. My main take away from this book was to know and remember that there is a purpose for your pain. It may be maturing your faith or leading you to an even better chapter of your life, and quite possibly both.

Quite honestly I'm surprised this isn't one of New York Times #1 bestsellers - it certainly should be! So...I bought this book as required reading for my bible study group and little did I know it was going to become so much more - little did I know how Laurie Polich Short was going to change my life in such a powerful, positively spirit filled way. Laurie grabs your attention right off in the beginning with real life stories and sharing some of her experiences - after that it's a page turner. I loved this book so much that I read ahead and finished the reading well ahead of the other ladies - and then I gave it to my mom to read! It was just THAT good! 'When Changing Nothing Changes Everything' gives you food for thought and trust me after reading this book you won't ever go hungry. May God continue to Bless Laurie and her family.

This was a really good read. Laurie writes with such honesty and candor that I really felt that I got to know her. Sometimes, books that are 'good for you' are irritating and it is easy to dismiss them. No so here. Buy it if you are on the fence. I'll be keeping this one and reading it again.

Laurie Polich Short's book inspired me and I believe it will inspire you, too. She encourages you to look at your life with a new vision--a perspective that will touch you spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically. In her book, Laurie shares her testimony, along with many others, showing us how we can triumph over tragedies and how our hopelessness can transform into happiness. Laurie shares a multi-visioned approach to life. Her book is a powerful one about looking at our lives more clearly and purposefully and seeing how God can do extraordinary things in our ordinary lives. This is a must-read book to opening your eyes to a better life!

This book has changed my life! As the book discusses, it has changed my life but not my circumstances. I see where I am at in my circumstances completely differently now. I've never had more contentment and joy. Every chapter was full of wisdom and encouragement. I bought another book to gift to a friend for Christmas. If you're on the fence whether or not to give this book a try, stop hesitating and read it! And prepare for your life to change.

Apart from the last chapter, the book was very human effort focused; it seemed like the sovereignty of God and the work of the Holy Spirit were forgotten. The author’s paraphrasing and interpretation of scripture left me dumbfounded. I would not recommend this book, particularly to any Christian.
