I suggest you go to YouTube and look up dog scratch pad rear paws. You"ll stumble over a bunch of videos, Even move about front paw training.

Hi Alex, I suggest that the file gets used for up to 5 minutes at a time. You should start to see the dog's nails getting filed down almost immediately and as the owner, it is important that you monitor the nail filing process. Short sessions ( a few minutes at a time) more often - for example 3 x per week, will work well. Once the nails are filed to a short enough length, you may find that your dog only needs to use the file every couple of weeks or so. Q: What do you do when the grit paper is all used up? Are there refills?

Hello, the abrasive surface is not grit paper. It is actually stainless steel (equivalent to a human metal nail file). It is as durable as possible and we expect that it will last several years. If the surface eventually wears down/becomes less abrasive, simply contact us directly. The top part of the unit (which holds the stainless steel abrasive surface) can be replaced.
