Best bang for you bucks!
The media could not be loaded. As a horror aficionado, engineer, and occasional content creator, I’ve been relying on a standard tripod, a shoulder rig and a homemade dolly for filming. The ball head tripod was OK, but relying on the camera’s image stability was always the weak link. And with the Canon, some of the best lenses are not compatible with Movie Digital IS (electronic image stability). Which left me with the option of buying new lenses, attempting to shoot without any stability, purchasing a new camera, or purchasing something I should have had long ago… A gimbal! After seeing the stellar reviews of the Moza Lite 2 gimbal online I decided I would give the Air series a try. It has more features and functions that I could ever possible use, in fact I think anyone short of an aspiring film student would struggle to use all the features. The inception mode is an absolute game changer for filmmakers, it’s smooth as butter, you can control the speed and by clicking the smart trigger twice you can transition right from inception to another mode. One of my favorite parts of the gimbal is the included mini tripod which performs double duty as an extended handle. It’s exceptionally sturdy, has padded feet and makes the gimbal very difficult to tip even with a huge DSLR on it. While on the tripod you can pan, tilt, and if you have set up the gimbal correctly, roll from the controls on the gimbal. I feel like I’m using a $20,000 set up when I have my old DSLR in this gimbal. But you’re not here for yet another review on how a gimbal works or some video examples of kids falling down, you’re here to find out if this is worth the $600 asking price (I see the price is now $550) and if it’s tough enough to be used in harsh environments. Well you came to the right place. I know how fragile some gimbals can be, so I thought up a few ways to test the limits of the Moza Air 2, including some things that would be considered abuse of the product. Hopefully I never need my warranty, because I’ve definitely taken some liberties with this unit. You’ve been warned, so here we go.Weight test:Moza claims this gimbal can handle 4.2kg of weight, as long as it’s centered and balanced. My Canon isn’t even 1kg with the lens. I checked out some older professional video cameras and they’re not even 3kg. I was wondering what someone would mount to this gimbal that was in excess of 4 kg? So I did what any logical person would do, I weighed a brick. It was 1.95kg. I took 2 bricks, duct taped them together and then duct taped them to a board, then I screwed the quick release plate to the board. Total weight of the bricks and board was 4.3kg. I balanced the load on the gimbal, which is very easy thanks to the lockout on the roll axis, I then ran the onboard balance check. I had to raise the load, then tried again. After 3 attempts it was in balance so I went forward with the testing. I don’t know if you’ve ever had 2 bricks on the end of a stick before, but it’s actually pretty heavy, but to it’s credit the gimbal didn’t even blink. I was standing outside shaking a gimbal with 2 bricks on it for about 10 minutes. I’m certain my neighbors think I’m crazy, but what’s even more crazy is that the Air 2 was able to keep 4.3kg of bricks in perfect balance while I swung it side to side and up/down. I didn’t try inception mode because I was afraid to find the limits of the duct tape.Stability test:For these tests I replaced my Canon camera with a GoPro (image stabilization off). I just couldn’t risk a DSLR with these tests, and I’m glad I didn’t (read on). This gimbal isn’t designed for a GoPro, but It was exceptionally easy to mount the camera to the quick release plate. The low weight and mount height of the GoPro meant I had to adjust the tilt motor to the maximum height. I took the gimbal to my balcony, set the gimbal in all lock mode (hold the smart trigger) and focused on a house about 50 meters away. I began shaking the gimbal violently up/down and left/right. When I viewed the footage it’s difficult to tell the camera moved at all. I released the lock and did some lazy pan from side to side with no attempt to keep the camera steady. Again it’s so smooth you would think I used a dolly. Finally I attached it to a pneumatic Halloween jump scare prop. This season it was a scarecrow that was sitting on a hay bale then suddenly lunged toward approaching victims. (Next season it will be a zombie that is eating a corpse who will lift his head to see whoever is near, then jump straight towards them) I have previously attached GoPro cameras directly to the props which capture a fantastic “first person” image of people being scared. Unfortunately the image is often so shaky or blurred by the quick and shocking movement of the prop that we discard about 90% of the footage. So being a reasonable person I attached a bracket to the upper arm of the prop and bolted the Air 2 to the prop mechanism. I gave it a few cycles and then something not so nice happened, the GoPro mount failed and the brass nut insert pulled out of the plastic mount. The GoPro was ejected about 15 feet, landing on a stone driveway. The video of it flying was completely useless, but the images from the previous attempts were beautiful, with the gimbal motor speed on max it removed almost all the shaking.Motor strength testing: (All these tests performed with a Canon 77D in the Gimbal and testing was done 3 times, as close as possible to the motor, in each direction) Using a small load cell I measured the force it takes to overpower the gimbal motors. I powered it on and set it to all lock mode. The pan motor took an average of 853 grams of force to begin to turn direction. The roll motor took on average 1021 grams of force to change direction. And lastly the tilt motor took 1019 grams of force to turn. If you’re wondering why these numbers are important, you have to understand that you will never get your camera perfectly balanced. So if it’s 50g imbalanced, and you’re using the inception mode while jogging along behind someone, that 853g of force it took to rotate the motor is the buffer before the motor struggles and the gimbal goes into safe mode and cuts power to the motor. That 50g imbalance, 10cm off axis, is 500g! Obviously 500g is worst case scenario and would never happen, but having 850g of buffer with something this compact is amazing. Interesting note, the Moza Air 2 doesn’t shut down completely when you push it into overload. It cuts the power to the motors which is very easily restored, something other gimbal manufacturers should take note of. The app remains connected, the camera controls remain untouched, just push a button and the motors start again. Conclusion:Phenomenal stability, this is professional filming equipment at an entry level price. I really had to push this unit to find it’s limits. It’s user friendly, even for beginners. I had my kids trying this out after about 5 minutes of instruction.Build quality is excellent. I’m still wondering why it has a capacity of 4.2kg, and why the gimbal motors are so overpowered, but if you can find a camera that weighs 4kg you can safely use it with this gimbal. Additionally if you need to stabilize 2 bricks, the Air 2 is, without a doubt, the only gimbal that is certified for brick use.The accessories and app make this the most complete unit out there. The YouTube reviews are correct, this is an absolute WINNER among the many gimbals out there. It does so much more, in a compact package, than the others I had looked at. Including support for a multitude of cameras, and even an electronic focus control system for cameras that aren’t supported. I threw an ancient rebel SLR on here and had full control of the focus. Outstanding that they thought of that. I also should add that it has high capacity 18650 batteries that last all day. You can even power the camera from the gimbal.I could not be more impressed with this product, it far exceeded it’s advertised claims and even after extreme testing it performs flawlessly. If I can't break this while torturing it, you definitely won't break it during normal use. I will keep an eye on Moza’s other products, when I find something good it makes me wonder what else they have available.

BEWARE! Buy at your OWN RISK...
I would have given this "ZERO STARS", but there is no option...Bought this last year before Christmas, but just opened the box this past August. Never powered up even when plugged in to charge. It is my fault for not checking the unit once I received it, but I thought this was a quality product. Moza's support center never responded to my emails and unfortunately I couldn't return this back to Amazon, because I opened it months later. I'll never buy another Moza product!BRAND NEW PIECE OF JUNK!Should've bought a DJI...

Very Impressed!
Let me begin by saying that I’m a beginner gimbal user. I have never owned a large single-handed gimbal before buying the Moza Air 2. I was introduced to the benefits of using a gimbal for mirrorless/DSLR camera video recordings while watching YouTube videos on camera lens recommendations for my Sony a6000. One of the reviewers mentioned the Moza Air 2 as the gimbal he uses to get smooth video footage during his walking/running scenes. Although it had not occurred to me previously, I immediately recognized that his videos showed no jitter/shake during his motion scenes. It was then I started my search for a high quality gimbal so that I could also shoot smooth video footage with my mirrorless camera. An internet search for “best gimbal for mirrorless cameras” brings up several recommendations, but the list often includes Moza, Zhiyun, and DJI. After reading and watching several reviews, I decided the Moza Air 2 was the right choice for me.Since I have never owned another gimbal, I do not really have a reference for comparison. However, the Moza Air 2 looks and feels like a high-quality premium device you would expect for its price. Also included are multiple control cables for compatibility with different cameras, four batteries with charger, a detachable tripod (which can also be used as an extension handle for two-handed support or for resting against your body for extra support), a lens support for larger lenses, iFocus M control and attachments, and a hardshell carrying case. In addition to the controls on the gimbal, the gimbal can also be controlled through the Moza Master app on a smartphone, which also allows makes updating the firmware very easy. Although I haven’t used it yet, the smartphone app also allows subject tracking. As a beginner, I’m still learning how to best use the gimbal, but it’s opened up several new possibilities to how I shoot video with my mirrorless camera. Although it’s a little heavy for extended use one-handed, the tripod/extension handle gives additional support options. Also, it’s a relatively large gimbal, so this will not be my first choice in gimbals for trips requiring airplane travel.Bottom line: So far, I’m very impressed with the Moza Air 2, and I’m looking forward to exploring its full capabilities.

Amazing stabilizer
I am so impressed by this stabilizer! Easy to use and set up and balancing is very easy! I use a canon 6dmkii with a canon 24-70mkii 2.8 lens and it looks incredible! Very smooth motion and even some running. The features of the stabilizer are great and I really love I don't have to pull out my phone to adjust setting I can just do it right on the fly with the screen that's built into the handle! I use this manly for wedding videography and some recreational use. The battery life is definitely worth the money! I could go for at least two whole weddings without charging the MOZA! It's also pretty light how well it's constructed. I some times use the tripod stand when folded and rest it on my belt buckle it makes for a nice rest for smooth walking or panning shots. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a high performance stabilizer with all the features you could need.

Stabilizzazione imperfetta

Recommended for beginners and beyond!
Blew all my expectations out of the water. I even used it prior to the firmware update and was amazed... After the update my expectations were shattered on how versatile this product is. I own a Nikon 3200 and it's impossible to find a gimble that works with the camera, but the focus motor came clutch and my hardware works flawlessly with the Moza air 2.

The media could not be loaded.

Works great with BMPCC6K
Solid gimbal overall, works great with the BMPCC6k. A rather light lens and cage is needed with this specific camera to fit onto the gimbal but I mean you should already be using this camera with a cage anyways. Balancing is not an issue if you take 2-3 hours of your time to learn how to properly operate the gimbal. The included follow focus and case are also great additions.
