This is the knife that protects my Wusthoff Ikons from getting abused in the sink and dishwasher. The smooth or serrated versions are plenty sharp, decent knives, and they can be abused and damaged by those who like to cut on metal grills or cut brownies in ceramic pans without the fussy knive guy (me) getting my heart rate up! Every kitchen needs these for kids or to hand to people who don't appreciate and care for quality knives.Good edge + low cost = no anxiety!

I like knives. I am not a knife freak but can tell the difference between cheap stainless and high quality carbon. I also appreciate function over form and a good value. In my opinion, this is the best utility knife in the kitchen. It works on food--maybe not the best on cheese or sticky stuff, but no serrated knife is good at that. When I reach for a knife in the kitchen, I look for the red-handled Victorinox. It opens packages, cuts vegetables, slices meat, pares fruit, and stays very sharp because the serrations don't contact the table, plate, or cutting board. I liked it so much I bought one for my mother's birthday. She is a cutlery snob and liked the Victorinox right away. Plus, the stainless is good quality and has resisted staining and rusting with only casual maintenance (wash, air dry, put it away). I don't think the handle is perfect for all applications because it is thin and tends to shift under pressure, but as long as you aren't bullfighting it should do any normal kitchen job with appropriate care. I like this knife, and as others have said--it's the first one I reach for in the kitchen.

We bought two of these in a hardware store when vacationing in Homer, Alaska about 6 years ago. One got lost and the other just recently snapped off near the handle. My wife loves this knife and we've never seen them for sale anywhere else. Finally found this on Amazon and ordered one, not sure if it would be the same. It is, and my wife's delighted. She cooks a lot and is very picky about her knives. There's nothing fancy about this one, but it is very sharp, holds an edge, cuts cleanly and smoothly, has a good grip, is strong and light weight, and lasts for years of hard use.

Quality is very low, blade is already staining and tarnishing. Would not buy this knife again. Sharpness is not like the other one of the same brand.

This small lightweight knive has been my cooking go to since 2018. I am not replacing it now just wanting to have one handy when I get disorganized.

I received one of these for Christmas 30 years ago, and where other knives have come and gone, I still use this one (to open bags of dog food or cut cardboard). It's not as sharp as the new one I just ordered, but it's still very useful to me. My daughter took one to college and said she had to label it with her name, because all her roommates grab for it as their preferred knife.
