Tan Colored Sand For Multiple Uses
This sand makes a great decorative soil topper. It's a 2-quart, tan colored, bag of sand. There's not much else to say. You can use it by mixing it with some potting soil, or you can pour it on top of your soil to make it look like your cacti or succulents are growing in a desert (terrarium). If you do use the sand as a topper, you have to be delicate in watering the soil because it will mix with the potting soil over time [see photos]. I do not recommend an all-sand soil for plants. It would've been cool to have white sand, but I saw no options elsewhere. You can get similar white SubstrateSource Natural White Aquarium Sand, or darker Dallas Bonsai Pumice Grain, if you want a more rough looking soil topper. The sand is good for your gardening and terrarium making needs.

Can help resolve fungus gnats/flies
I used this to cover the soil, in addition to using nematodes, to get rid of fungus gnats/flies for my indoor plants. This sand has consistent sized grains and makes for a nice looking covering. (other sand I've used can have rather inconsistent looking grains and look quite a lot rougher.) Worked well for my purposes.

Works as expected.
Works as expected. I mix it with my potting soil to increase the sandiness of the loam for plants that need it.Just a couple FYIs: One, Hoffman use to make this with a slightly larger white sand. Apparently, they changed the source in the last year or so. It's now a finer grain, and it's tan. Two, Amazon changed the description to say that it's not silica sand. I question this change. Hoffman says on the package that this product is made with 100% quartz. If that is true, then this is still silica sand, it's just not white silica sand, like it use to be (Wikipedia says that limestone in the sand makes silica sand white).

Not for succulents
This is great potting sand to use if you have something else to mix it with. Doesn’t drain well and my aloe Vera has been struggling sense.

Probably the best sand for gardening on Amazon.
I used it for creating sandy soil for my garden and the sand seemed clean and most importantly bug free thank god. If anything changes I'll update my review in month or so. Also the two bags I got were dry and intact. Very happy for that. Anyways yes I recommend this for plants. Recommend two bags if you're gardening with this, I used it for potatoes and onions.

Works for us (and our cacti)!
Bought this product to add a decorative touch to my collection of Christmas cacti, and add to the soil mix holding the cacti. The bag arrived swiftly and securely, was easy to apply and provided the results we were looking for. While we’re hardly authorities in the field, we’re avid readers on the subject. And so, we are ready to follow up on many a suggestion. Our cacti, including our first stabs at developing cuttings, are thriving. The desert sand has unquestionably added to the allure of the cacti displayed.

Love the sand, bag destroyed
Love the sand. I use it to get rid of gnats. The bag came ripped so there was sand everywhere. I’ve since purchased from the local garden store

Very fine sand to add to general potting soil for my Aloe
My aloe has been growing slowly and somehow dying since I got it from a friend, although I have bee looking after it so closely and control over light and water just right. Then I realized that the soil, which is the general type potting one, is not the best for Aloe.So I decided to give it a little treat by mixing this to it. A coincidence or it's not, since then the Aloe grows much better, now it's super big and have many small plants growing around it.I would say this sandy soil is quality, at least it won't kill your plants/introduce mushroom/spider mites.

Good for decoration
Good Earth Horticult Inc Hoffman 14302 Western Desert Sand, 2 Quarts Good looking sand for a desert sort of scape for my planter. Meant as a top dressing though. I couldn't tell when I bought it, it if would be gritty enough to mix in with other soil for my cacti for a gritty soil mixture so I ordered it to see. It is not gritty enough for that. Should only be used as top dressing/ decorative. Is a nice sand for a top cover to dress up my window garden design.
