Greek Islands (Eyewitness Travel Guides) Paperback – January 31, 2003

It may be difficult to fit a lot of information into one travel books on the many Greek islands. I used this book for Santorini and Rhodes. Santorini only had 2 pages of info and I found it to be EXTREMELY lacking. Information for Rhodes was OK. I do like the photos in Eyewitness Travel compared to competitors, but we had to resort to Lonely Planet and other books for additional travel tips for these 2 islands (like places to eat and places to stay). The maps in this book are too small and lack overall detail whereas Athens book had a nice map for city.

I just got back from Italy and the Greek Islands and I used this book and other Eyewitness books to learn about each one I visited. The Eyewitness series has a lot of great information about the history of the area and points of interest including lots of gorgeous photos. However, I wish the Eyewitness series would include more "survival" type information such as transportation, restaurants, etc. so that they could be the only guide I need to take. I felt like I needed another guide for that type of information and I did not want to carry more books!

We used this book to plan our trip to the greek islands. The information is very comprehensive and the pictures are great.We couldnt go to all the Greek islands but we selected the few we wanted to see based on the details given in this book. We were quite happy with our decision.Excellent purchase. We're almost making it a 1-book per holiday and our bookshelf is now a constant reminder of our fun holidays!

Beautiful pictures are truly inspiring. Lots of detail and good ideas. Includes many of the smaller islands. I think that in general, the Eyewitness series is terrific. This was a good addition to my collection.

Guess I expected more data such as Fodor's or Frommer's ... DK does not produce. But no one can beat DK's fabulous photos of the title country .. and also provides little tidbits of travel hints. A good book to buy in addition to other guides.

avoid commercial like Mykonos and Santarini and hit small like Hydra, Poros and such. Much better experience

Fantastic pictures and good maps, but directed toward the high end traveler. There is little or nothing for the budget traveler. Also the information of getting place to place is sketchy at best.
