I awaited this item with bated breath. I live in a rustic log cabin. Delivery was very acceptable and it came well packaged and protected. Plugged it in downstairs after seating the bulb properly. Went upstairs and within a couple of minutes I heard a muted explosion. (I was in Viet Nam, I know explosion's .) The lamp was in the corner with a small wisp of smoke still coming out of where the bulb and mantle originally sat. Still looking for my dog and cat. I do hear whimpering from somewhere upstairs. I have grown tired of receiving poor quality items at a greatly increased price. Been an Amazon fan for years. Time look around at other options. Extremely disappointed.

I rarely leave reviews, and when I do it's typically only for products I like. And I wanted to like this lantern! We loved the styling and we were really excited to receive it. It looks great in our house. BUT!1 - It's super cheaply made. The description says it's made of metal, and perhaps it is, but it feels more like plastic with a tiny bit of metal mixed in. The lantern is incredibly lightweight (maybe a pound?) and feels like it will blow over in a stiff breeze, or if someone just walks by too fast.2 -- Even though we were a bit disappointed by this on unboxing, we still loved it and figured we'd keep it. So we plugged it in and -- pow! -- the bulb immediately blew out.3 -- We tried for days to figure out how to change the bulb. Word to the wise -- don't toss the instructions, which show you how. (We found them later.) Eventually we solved the puzzle, and then ran around town looking for the right kind of bulb. Once we finally found one, we screwed it in and again no light.So this is going back. It is cheap, defective, and disappointing, especially for the price. We paid $80 for this piece of junk! I see that it's now available for a lower price, possibly due to complaints like these.I would pay twice as much for a lantern in this style if it was well constructed and it worked. I'm very disappointed that this one missed the mark.

Not what I expected, but it’s a decent lamp to use as a nightlight, which wasn’t why I purchased it but will now use it for. The lightbulb has no shade covering it of course, however I didn’t realize this would be a flaw. However, it is. It’s distracting if it’s anywhere in your line of vision, your eye is drawn to it and it gives me a headache. Maybe this is just me. When on its brightest setting, it doesn’t light the area around it, just mainly the area it sits on. Might be due to the wattage of the bulb, I’m using the one it came with. The lamp does have a dimmer switch, so I’ll keep it and use on a hall table as a accent light or night light.Overall it’s nice looking, has that rustic charm and looks almost looks like an authentic lantern. Almost. For the quality (really really lightweight) I’d expect to pay WAY less. Maybe half of what I paid. But, since it’s a hassle to return I’ll do like I said and keep it as a nightlight here in our cabin. I would not recommend this lamp overall.

The lamp was well packed, received it in good condition, plugged it in and it work. It does have a nice look but I was disappointed. The lamp is extremely lightweight, feels flimsy. The cord and dimmer are heavier than the fixture so the cord and dimmer pulls the lamp across the table. The bottom is recessed so no way of putting a felt bottom or feet to stop it from sliding. The gauge of metal used is like a beer can, you can hold it but I’m afraid I might dimple it. The bulb that came with it was not the one pictured, I put my own bulb in.

Mine arrived in a box with the labels razor cut off. The moment I picked it up I could hear the broken glass tumbling around inside. The box had a sticker from Amazon saying: "Because of you, this product has a second life." I certainly was NOT INFORMED that this was USED, nor was the outrageous price discounted at all. So all that happened is that my time and money was wasted, along with USPS time. I do have another of this lamp. The lamp itself is not bad. The bulb it comes with is pretty but gives very little and orange light. That could probably be changed by using a different bulb. The nice part is that when it works, it dims. I don't find the body cheaply made. It looks authentic even close up. I just don't know why they'd ship a USED one FOR FULL PRICE that was clearly already damaged.

We purchased two of these for our mountain house and within two days, one blew up. Literally, the cord and rheostat switch overheated and nearly caught fire. A licensed electrician looked over the remains and advised us to get the other one out of the house before it burns the place down. Additionally, the lamp is so cheap and cheesy that it was actually difficult to get it to stay atop the night stands because the cord is actually heavier than the entire lamp, no joke! I'm stunned that it costs so much. It's more like something one would see in a bargain bin for five bucks at a flea market or dollar store. Return started, will update review depending on results.

I'm using these in a western themed bedroom and fortunately I bought them before I bought the nightstands because these are pretty short, I knew the dimensions but you know how that goes, lol. I had to find taller nightstands, which wasn't very easy, in order for these cool lights to sit up high enough. The disappointing part is that the light is very dim, the adjust but the brightest is still dim. So, I am going to add a floor lamp for those guests that would like more light when getting ready for bed or to read. Otherwise I love the look and the dim light adds ambiance!

I absolutely LOVED this Lantern!!!!! I ordered the correct size directly from the vendor. It gives a room a touch of old fashioned warmth and coziness. My son and I love the dimmer feature too. If you want a cozy, lantern thats well made, this is a definite purchase. Just Love. Christine NY
