great invention for toddlers.. it helps my daughter to identify things

My son was very excited to see this product arrive in the mail and hear that it was for him. He immediately wanted to open it on his own and it was nice to find that the packaging was convenient and child friendly: the back was perforated for easy access! The owl pen is adorable and the pictures in the book are just fantastic. As an education minded family, we have a number of Hot Dot products and this one is another hit. We enjoyed the engaging alphabet activities in the book and it is great for him to get the immediate feedback. It is robust enough to just do a few pages at a time, so we will have lots of learning time from this set.

I bought this for my 3 year old daughter who is working on her letters and sounds. She LOVES the Hot Dots pen with the owl on top. When I showed her how it worked, she was very excited to use it. Of course, she just wanted to touch the pen to everything on the page just to hear the sound. I explained to her about the difference in sounds based on which dot you touched. This has been a great activity for us to do together. The more she sees and hears the letters and sounds, the more she's learning and can do it independently. I have owned other Hot Dot items for use in my classroom, but this is the first I've used at home. We love it. We will be purchasing more.

Item came already opened, looks like it could be a returned. Everything seems to work fine so I don't plan to return it.

My 3 year old granddaughter loves books and loves to read. This toy takes reading to a new level. I love that she is able to interact with the book by using the pen. She knows the alphabet already, now she is learning different words that start with each alphabet. The owl pen's eye light up green with the correct word or light up red with the incorrect word. It is easy for her to understand how to use. She loves it and reads the book every day. Highly recommend this product.

This product is super cute and age appropriate but the packaging must be flimsy as it arrived somewhat opened on the back. The perforation was open which was a huge disappointed as this was supposed to be a gift. So, I ended up giving a gift that looked like it had been opened already (i.e. looked like a re-gift) Embarrassing!

My daughter loves this product, and so do I. The interactive owl is so cute and has helped encourage her to recognize her letters correctly without getting frustrated! The owl is so much fun and so simple to grasp, (after a time or two with mom), she now loves to take her alphabet book and practice by herself, then come out and show mom and how much she has learned!

My daughter is just beginning to learn the sounds each letter of the alphabet makes and this book set is helping her learn while having fun! The pen is just the right size for little hands to hold comfortably. My daughter loves watching the owl light up (both red and green) and make noise. She will play with it for long stretches of time and I love that she's learning her letters at the same time!

Product came half open. Since it was only for my daughter and not a present, I didn't mind that. Today when we finally open to play with it, the product was faulty. Even with the new battery it won't work. I'll never buy from the seller.
