Digitally remastered two CD set containing two best-selling '80s albums by popular US R&B band Starpoint including nine bonus tracks. Starpoint began as a Maryland-based family group consisting of brothers George, Ernesto, Orlando and Gregory Phillips with the early addition of Kayode 'Ky' Adeyemo and in the late '70s, female vocalist Renee Diggs. The group secured their first recording contract in 1980 with Chocolate City Records, moving to Casablanca and then Boardwalk, establishing a presence on the US R&B charts before signing with Elektra Records in 1984. Restless, Starpoint's sophomore 1985 Elektra set was co-produced by manager Lionel Job and then-emerging hit producer Keith Diamond and boasted three Top 10 R&B/dance hits including the now-classic 'Object Of My Desire' (their biggest US pop charted single), the LP's infectious title track and 'What You Been Missin'.' With energetic live performances, Starpoint toured with Morris Day, Luther Vandross and Atlantic Starr and others, building a solid audience: their third Elektra album, Sensational (produced by renowned music man/songwriter Preston Glass and Job) continued the momentum with 'He Wants My Body' and 'D.Y.B.O'; Diggs' diagnosis with multiple sclerosis sadly impacted continued touring and in 1990, Starpoint disbanded. This reissue includes stellar notes by renowned UK writer Charles Waring with quotes from Orlando Phillips, Lionel Job and Preston Glass and great remastering by Donald Cleveland.

Great CD - Bad Packaging
Restless is one of my favorite albums by Starpoint. I originally had this album on cassette. Previously, I was only able to find a digital copy of the album so, I was excited to find this 2 CD set which also includes the album Sensational. Renee Diggs' voice is beyond compare (I took a much needed trip down memory lane listening to this album again). I miss all the old groups like Starpoint, Atlantic Starr and Midnight Star. All of these groups were able to pull off the best slow jams and make you dance as well. Theses groups also had some of the most talented female lead singers around. My only complaint is the product packaging. The CD case was cracked/broken when I received it because the CD was shipped in a flimsy bubble envelope with no internal protection. Please package CDs better when shipping. This CD wasn't cheap but it was worth it for the nostalgia factor. However, I shouldn't have to pay for a new CD with a cracked case due to poor packaging. Very upsetting! The CD is 5 stars. The packaging is 1 star!

A sensational double release from one of the best groups of the 80's.
I'm very happy that someone at Cherry Red Records took note of my request placed on their website couple years ago. I became a big fan of Starpoint when I listened to "Object of my desire for the first time, "Restless" marked a high point in Starpoint's career. There is not a single song that I do not like in this album. Needless to say how delightful was to watch the videos of "Object of my desire" and "Restless" on TV. All the songs had the potential to be extended and remixed, The chemistry between Renee Diggs and the group male members is sensational. "Sensational" was the follow up album which also has great songs besides the title hit. Although not all the mixes of "Restless" were included here at least three out of four are. Although future albums did not had a big impact they were very good. The passing of Renee Diggs left a void that it could be difficult to be filled again. Good to know that this re-mastered double album release will make us cherish fond memories of Starpoint "Till the end of time." Very insightful liner notes.

Find out "What You Been Missin"
I consider myself fussy with my music and the sound on this 2 CD set sounds great to me. Such a talented group with a tragic personal history too who were sadly mostly overlooked at their peak, other than by pure 80's R'n'B lovers. Sublime vocals, writing skills, intelligent lyrics and production, Starpoint are ripe for discovery by any methodical 80's soul lover. What You Been Missin' is the best Prince soundalike song not written by Prince ever, plus you get two different vocals to chose from in this package. Restless is the better of the two albums but the delight of having this group expanded on CD and the RIDICULOUSLY low price it's currently going for its a steal. I bought two copies! A great tribute to the members of this group who are sadly no longer with us. Rest in peace.
