ARC Review
I was given an ARC of this book and I am so glad I was!The idea of a Syren and Pirate story caught my eye immediately when Jessica started posting about it, and I stalked her page until I could apply for an arc. It was well worth it.Without going into spoilers I will say that the main couple both confused me and intrigued me for the first 50 percent of the story, there is a BIG issue that happens between the two of them early on and I was confused on how things were moved past. BUT later on in the book you see one MC’s pov of them explaining it to a supporting character and I immediately understood their way of thinking. Don’t get me wrong though, I loved the main couple.I’m this book you get a well paced action story that tackles some pretty rough topics with grace, you see the main characters grow and not only understand each other better but they understand themselves better by the end of the story. There is a sprinkle of well written spice and a ton tension between the main couple. Jessica choosing to write a NA story that was not all smut is a true blessing! The themes throughout the story are what makes it adult. If you are looking for a fun but serious, well paced, and well written adventure book this is the book for you!

Absolutely In Love
5⭐️ | 1.5🌶 | 4🔥Killer sirens… snarky banter… forced proximity with only one bed? This is what dreams are made of and thankfully for us Jessica Taylor is making our dreams come true with Syren’s Mutiny.Every interaction between Brigid & Caelum has me laughing, swooning, screaming or melting. I absolutely adored these characters and watching their relationship grow. There is definitely instant attraction but the slow-burn romance was so good (even if ALL THE INTERRUPTIONS had me screaming in frustration). The way Brigid’s anxiety and self-doubt were approached in this story was *chef’s kiss* and I love that we see a new portrayal of how anxiety can show itself, but also how Brigid manages her anxiety to work through the stressful moments. The side characters were equally likeable and I hope we get to see more of them in future books! And the villains were truly despicable - just the way I like them!Be prepared to have all the feels and for the pain this story is about to inflict on your poor heart with this story - the cliffhanger is brutal and I don’t know how I’ll survive until book 2!Of note, there are darker themes discussed, so please check TW - however none of the themes are discussed insignificant detail.𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳One bedForced ProximitySlow burnMH rep - anxietyInstant attraction but slow burn romanceCliffhangersBeing emotionally destroyed

Syrens&Pirates= 5⭐️
There was a certain satisfaction that came with the last breath of a dying man.-The Syren’s Mutiny by Jessica S TaylorYou know that thing some people do when they can’t decide which book to read so they read the first sentence of several books. This book would win every time!! That first line is *chefs kiss 💋 I’m completely obsessed with it. Thank you for the arc Jess!! I love you and your book! This book takes you on an adventure with Brigid, a mortal girl turned Syren and Caelum, a pirate with a heart of gold. The amount of love I have for these characters is ridiculous, I would like to be Brigid when I grow up and Caelum is such a freaking cutie! The story is just so compelling and it will keep your attention until the very end...when you will start cursing the author's name because of the ending! lol The world building is fantastic, the plot is great, and the tension is perfection. I cannot wait for more from Caelum and Brigid in book 2! The rest of the characters in this story are just so amazing and loveable...looking at you Cam...he's my favorite lol Well most of them are some of them make you wanna choose violence but anyways pre-order this book immediately if you love tropes like grumpy/sunshine, one bed, found family, redemption arc.

If you like ocean mythology and stabby women, read this book
Rating 4.5/5*If you like fun pirate-filled adventures, stabby women, ocean lore and villains to loathe, The Syren's Mutiny is for you.The story started a bit slow, but once it took off, I procrastinated everything to finish it.I found the book entertaining on account of the fun interactions, especially banter, between characters and the spectacular aesthetic the story employed.Brigid's development of moral nuance and her interactions with her fellow Sirens, as opposed to her human peers, were compelling enough to keep me engaged. This book created a solid narrative filled with tension and pining, which were wonderful to read. Also, the story made strong use of instant attraction but not "insta-love", which was refreshing. Most importantly, I couldn't help sympathising with most of the characters. The villains, however, we so detestable that I enjoyed disliking them throughout the text. This said, the ending left me in shock and I can't wait for the emotional devastation the next book will create. On the whole, I enjoyed this book. If you like pirate-themed stories, vicious women, tension and pining, I think you will like this book. Also, I think this series will take off more thoroughly in the next instalment, and if you're willing to wait for the next book to develop the plot fully, the investment will be worth it.

A wonderful start to a NA fantasy series with syrens and pirates!
That feeling when you find another beautiful seafaring gem! While I admittedly don’t read books set at sea as often as I’d like, The Syren’s Mutiny is the type of book that perfectly shows why I like this sort of story so much: the dangers, the adventure, the seafaring role and the potential for romance between rivaling species. (Mermaid/sirens vs. Humans is a classic indeed, and one I love!) This book gave me all of that, balancing a dark atmosphere with fun moments of camaraderie and banter that made the pages fly by.Though I enjoyed the first part of the book where we get to see the protagonist, Brigid, at sea with her syren sisters, the moment I really got invested in the story was when Brigid meets Caelum again and the focus moved to the adventure on land. Of all the characters, Caelum was without a doubt my favorite. He’s my type of character: strong when he needs to be, protective, but also kind and very loyal to his crew—and later on, to Brigid. I loved the relationship between Caelum and Brigid because—despite the attraction being evident from very early on—the author didn’t rush the pacing of it. I enjoyed the banter, but also the uncertainties they both had because of their obligations—one to her syren way of life and the other to his crew. It made it all the more satisfying to see them falling head over heels for one another, and I can’t wait to get more of that relationship in the next book! Which I need. Soon. Please! The book ends on a cliffhanger that had me screaming at the page.Apart from the romance, I also really enjoyed the friendships in the book, especially the one between Brigid and Sorcha, one of the newest syrens who Brigid takes under her wing and grows very attached to. This particular relationship tugged at my heart.

A dark little mermaid retelling 🖤
This BOOK ❤️ I absolutely love retellings and The Syrens Mutiny gave me Little Mermaid vibes... but WAY darker!! 🖤🖤Brigid was saved by a Syren 10 years ago from the hands of men. She then made her biggest life choice: she decided to become one of them and help them in their cause. Now, the syrens have no mercy and no pity when it comes to enacting their revenge on men, they hunt the seas for their ships and drown them. That is, until Brigid comes face to face with the only man in her life that showed her kindness. So many of the tropes included I absolutely love: One bed, One cabin, body Warmth trope (when two characters have no choice but to cuddle to stay warm), I came to kill you but fell in love... Caelum is protective, charming and extremely hot! My perfect type of book boyfriend.Their dynamic reminded me of Nina & Matthias from six of Crows... 😭❤️

A perfect seafaring adventure for fans of Fable and To Kill a Kingdom!
THE SYREN’S MUTINY is the book every reader who loves syrens more than mermaids was waiting for! If you love a good seafaring adventure along the lines of To Kill a Kingdom and Fable, with bloodthirsty syrens, dashing rogues and a mildly steamy romance to keep the blood flowing, I highly recommend trying this one. This book has everything an adventure at sea needs: dangers at sea, dangers on land, and a cast of deeply addicting and flawed characters to keep the story interesting. While this installment only scratches the surface of the world-building potential, I’m already obsessed with the darkness of the syren lore and how it connects with the superstitions tied to women at sea. These syrens are true predators, and I loved seeing this aspect of their way of life as much as I did seeing the camaraderie and sisterhood that links them in their everyday life. The characters were certainly the highlight of the novel. Brigid and Caelum were incredible protagonists! They’re both strong and determined in their own right, but they also don’t hide their vulnerabilities, which made them that much more likeable and relatable. I especially loved the way the author handled the descriptions of Brigid’s past trauma and the anxiety that she carries with her from that moment on. It’s no surprise that this incredible characterization also brought to a fantastic romance. I will never stop advocating for the superiority of stories where acquaintances/friends grow estranged only to meet again when they’re older. The chemistry between Caelum and Brigid jumped off the page from their very first scene together, and the author did an incredible job at pacing this relationship, balancing the attraction with moments of misunderstanding and tension. The few steamy moments between them promise such great things from the sequel! Sequel that I will need in my hands effective immediately thanks to that fantastic cliffhanger, which was the perfect gasp-out-loud ending to a book that was hard to put down.
