great connectors to attach my Nano VNA to my BNC antenna

I have a collection of HT’s and am switching antennas all the time. I have almost worn out an antenna connection on one HT, so I decided to switch to BNC connectors to make it less stressful on the device when changing antennas. I know many Hams are placing BNC connectors on their equipment to save the antenna post.

These are well build adapters. I've got a couple of high end ones I paid for, thinking it was important. These fit the radios and antenna exactly the same. Very solid construction out of good materials. Tests showed no loss I could measure. Signal reports were good. Great product. They even came well packaged with each adapter in its own bag.

Several of the miniaturized pieces of modern test gear on my electronics workbench rely solely on SMA connectors. But, most of my older gear and the cables I’ve accumulated rely on BNC connectors. This set of adapters means I can do more with the modern gear in conjunction with the gear and supplies I already have.These are so much more cost effective than getting custom adapter cables built for me, and they take up a lot less room, too. So far I’ve used two out of the four and they’ve been completely reliable. No significant losses were measured when characterizing was performed and moving them around doesn’t reveal any intermittent connections, so I’m very pleased that I can continue to rely on quality products from the folks at Cable Matters as I have done for several years now!

The media could not be loaded.  This pack includes adapters for almost any typical SMA to BNC scenario you might run into. The adapters all seem to be good quality and are well packaged with thread protectors on the SMA ends. They mate easily with other cables, antennas, radios, etc that I have around here so no issues with tolerances or poor machine work, all high quality parts here.If you wanted to permanently change a handheld radio from an SMA connection to BNC you might want to first check if there is a purpose-built adapter for your radio that takes advantage of the shoulder/lip around the connector to brace it better against side forces, but for a temporary test of another antenna or other cable adapting these are pretty much perfect.

Sorry about only having 5 watts - buy me a better radio.However there are some mechanical oddities... the BNC connectors fit together a little bit too snugly - certainly more so than my other BNCs. Maybe this will loosen up over time but it raises an eyebrow... Perhaps worse, the SMA connectors seem to only thread in like a turn or so. I can't see why though... the threads seem ok, the mating bits seem the right distance from the tips... I don't know.I wouldn't use these for anything permanent, but they're cheap enough for temporary fiddling. I'll keep 'em.Also, if you're buying them so you can put a BNC connector on your HT, don't! There are adapters specifically for that purpose that give a much more mechanically sound connection.
