Twinklebay DB9 Connector to Wiring Terminal RS232 Serial Port Breakout Board Solder-Free (Male Adapter with Case)

I needed to fix a piece of equipment and needed to do it without soldering. This item worked as needed.

I needed to construct an oddball cable for a legacy serial interface. Got a standard serial cable and this unit, cut the connector off one end of the standard cable, and wired the cable conductors to the terminals of this unit, with cross-connects, etc., as needed. The terminals inside are large enough to easily wire, but the unit is small enough to fit neatly in the tight spot where it had to connect. The result worked as intended and looked neat and professional.

I got this to add a PTT output to a FlexRadio SDR. The ability to pop the shell and quickly modify wiring for future projects is great, as is not having to solder a bunch of tiny wiring points. The shell is slightly larger than a typical DB9 connector, but it shouldn't be a problem on anything but the most cramped backplane.

Although larger in size than a standard d-sub connector, the versatility of this device makes up for it. Makes wire changes quick and easy...with no crimping required!

Easy to quickly make up cables. Ordered 4. One missing some hardware and one had the screw down terminal mounted backwards. Had to unsolder, turn around and resolder.

If you don't have soldering skills with very tiny wires, these are absolutely perfect. Hence, a great invention.
